5 on 5A Unification Game
The Wolverines 90 Eat It to Beat It 70
3's Company-The Wolverines VietKong (Snipe) the Crap out of Eat It
First of all, congratulations to both teams for holding it down in their prospective leagues and getting to the unification game as it is no easy feat in of itself. But like Ricky Bobby once told Cal, "you can't have two #1's....that makes 11."
In the first half, the Wolverines came out and shocked the world by hoisting up 3 after 3...after figuring out which hoop they were shooting at. Mr. Big Shot, Sir Hugh Coleman and the Brown Frown had 2 a piece before I even had a chance to start the clock. Talk about quick release, tell Reggie Miller to come down to CTown High and try to outshoot these guys.
For Eat It, the Pistol seemed to be the only one who could hit from the outside in the first half, as well as get to the rack. And despite trailing the entire half, they had the heart you'd expect from a champion as Hynes 57 was getting after every single offensive board he could get his paws on. (including 3 on one possession!)
Down 10 in the second half, Eat It came out the gates strong and pounded the ball inside to the Dunkin' Dutchman. After 2 Nark buckets, the Eat It Boys cut the lead to 4 and could taste the upset.
In response, The Wolverines called a TO and got frickin act together. After the TO, it was all Wolverines the rest of the half. Nick Deebo Richardson started owning the paint, while the Walkers stepped up their D, tossed in a couple treys to boot, and managed to bicker at each other when they were finishing lay ups (like all good brothers). Shawn Brown continued to pull up from just about anywhere on the floor and like a scorching case of herpes he kept popping up at the worst moments for Eat It. It is ironic that a man who legit plays with his pockets turned out from his shorts is so cash from the 3 pt line.
Mr. Big Shot's consistency throughout the playoffs earned him MVP honors as the Wolverines took down the most coveted league championship.
