NEW TEAM NEW PART 2 115  Commando 81

NTNP2 scores 115 in the victory over Commando

NTNP2, 115 points!

This is the first team to 100 + this season and after this performance I would be surprised if it happens again when the full team is assembled. Warner dropped 38 points this game partnered with Lavey’s 32 points. Nick layed 37 points on the board in what turned to be a 30 point blowout.

NTNP2 started off hot with Lavey and Warner attacking early. Cody was early on the rebounds while Matt and Connor got some three point shots warmed up for the second half. As for Commando, Joe and Nick controlled the pace early. Joe attacked the hoop with Nick while he also hit a few timely threes. Believe it or not, the score was tied at 29 with 6:52 left in the first half and the Commando were in a 13-5 run since being down 8 with 12:30 left. With Prinam keeping everyone moving on offense and Young with the first of the pair of three pointers he’d have for the night. Lavey and Warner subbed in to join Matt and Connor at this point . Three three pointers back to back to back from NTNP2 right away and they never looked back. Up 57-36 at the half, NTNP2 had set a tone.

Connor and Fri came out hot in the second half, assisting NTNP2 to a 25-6 run in the first 4 minutes. NTNP2 hits 100 points with 5:52 left, Commando had scored 56 by this point. Commando would go on a 25-15 run from that point, ending the game in a thirty four point loss. Matt and Connor heating up in the second half was a big help for NTNP2, as well as Cody holding down the paint and Colin and Fri scoring from everywhere. Commando put up a great fight as 81 points is still a lot in this league. Having a key player, Troy, and having their consistent rebounder, Rafi, to open up the paint more for Ralph and Roumen definitely may have put both teams over 100 points. As for the outcome, that’d still be up in the air. Definitely an exciting performance from both teams. The Commando just couldn’t get ahead of the strong pace set by NTNP2 in the first half.

Seal Team 69 47  Hurricanes 82

Hurricanes by 35

Although this game ended in a blowout, the first half was very similar to the game before it. Both teams started off slow paced playing tough defense that was causing both teams to turn the ball over. With 13:30 left in the first, the score was 7-9, Hurricanes, and Barrett
of ST69 hits two three pointers in a minute brings Hurricanes into a timeout with 12:20 left in the half. Out the timeout, Hurricanes would go on a 33 point run until Seal Team finally scored in the final minute. Cui and Connelly were big parts of the first half run with Cui going 3/4 from 3PT and finishing the half with 15 points, while Connelly had 6 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks. Keith struggled early in the half to get into his flow, although he continued to grab boards and find scorers on the move with Jeff. Seal Team couldn’t get anything to drop in the last portion of the half but started strong with Hartman and Barrett making things happen on both ends of the floor.

Coming out the half, JP scored 11 points in a row for Seal Team. This didn’t effect the Hurricanes as they kept on pace and finished the game up 35 and out scored Seal Team again in the second half 40- 32. Every body on Hurricanes put points on the board and sharing the ball definitely paid off. As for Seal Team, they had 3 total team assist and all but two players score over 3 points. A big off shooting night for Seal Team, and they give up a 35 point loss. Hurricanes showing consistency since the full team has been showing up. Keith showing to be a spark plug while Zi another strategic scorer that can get points inside an out. Ruffen in the game for Seal Team would have helped Seal team consistently score while Barrett was out since Charlie had a cold night.

Good game Hurricanes.

The Boys win by 2 missed free throws from HJ

Unlike the two games before, this game was a grind to the last seconds, literally. Moran was out this week for The Boys, Winanas stepped up early controlling the pace with Warren. The first half finished 25-26,HJ, in a close battle with a couple of lead changes. Half way through, HJ led by 3, but only 28 total points shared between both teams. From that point, The Boys went on a 12-3 run, putting them up 23-17 through a couple of quick bucket and made free throws with 7 minutes left. Pinkham and Winanas were the biggest visitors of the FT line and came through for The Boys. After this run, HJ would return the favor by only allowing the Boys to score two points the rest of the half and HJ, 9. The Boys ended the half with a larger amount of rebounds than HJ, but HJ led at the half . Loewen started to find his groove towards the end of the half and would carry his flow into the next half.

Out the half, The Boys end up 5 with 12 minutes left. Loewn had hit a couple threes and Sniffen had started to find his lane in the game grabbing boards and scoring well timed points to keep the momentum going. Going up 7 with 9:30 left in the game, The Boys started to get sloppy with their offense and call a timeout with the intention to slow things down, but HJ had not given up only trailing by a few possessions and Sheridan was instrumental in this. HJ cut the lead down to 4 with 2:40 left but has 7 fouls and has to avoid fouling. Huff travels with 1:09 left and HJ make a bucket out of the turnover leaving them down two. Another turnover for The Boys and HJ is down by 2 with less than a minute left in the game. A strong drive by Mudge gets him to the line with 2.5 seconds left and two shots to tie and potentially go to overtime.

The Boys win by two, letting the clock run out after two missed free throws and an effort for the offensive rebound by HJ.

Great game fought on both sides.
