OBA All-Stars 56  Colonials 67

Colonials get the better of OBA

posted 2/13 - Ya boi screwed up, and for that I apologize. here are some random thoughts post week 4 games, but before i get to the week 4 write-ups!

COLONIALS

- VERY good at free throws only in the last two minutes of the game. 19-20 their last two games (4 minutes), then 26-52 the entire rest of the season (148 minutes). When the pressure amps up, they are more focused

- LaFrancis is balling out this season. I know most of you don’t follow me on twitter (you should!) and I talk to myself a lot during and after games, so I feel like I’ve been harping on this a lot, but believe me, the reason the Colonials are undefeated through 3 games is because Kevin has a #CACreer high 17 ppg and nearly TEN offensive rebounds per night

- Tej doesn’t always get a chance to shine on this squad but 10 points and 8 boards in a key week 3 win?? Plus he locked up the week 2 win????? you can’t teach that kind of veteran savvy to step up at the right moments

- Hoban’s fuck you confidence is infectious and i love it

OBA

- Ryan and Jay O’Keefe with the matching buzz cut and beard growth WITHOUT CAC jerseys is very distracting. Wear CAC jerseys so the numbers are on both sides and stat keepers don’t get players mixed up, K?? I’ve seen you guys for a decade and it was still annoying as hell

- This defense, when it swarms ball handlers, is the best in the league. They can’t do it for 44 minutes (who could) but when the pressure amps up? Jesus. Starchild (aka Phil Davis) only got credit for 1 steal in this one, but the number of times he can force a bad pass that sails out of bounds or at someone’s feet is amazing.

- Good to see at least one of the Mulholland brothers is still alive and hooping!!

- The team doesn’t lose often, but when they do it can get ugly. Hey, everybody just shut up once in a while, ok??

Nails hold GMB to just 12 second half points

Posted 2/13 - Ya boi screwed up, and for that I apologize. here are some random thoughts post week 4 games, but before i get to the week 4 write-ups!

RUSTY NAILS

- This isn’t the biggest, most physical team, but the D is legit as they’ve proven over and over again this season. Holding GMB to just 12 second half points is a minor miracle, who does that??

- Pat Halloran is very underrated (by me). It’s easy to get caught up in the 3s of Mike Novak or the burly strength of Curran O’Connor but Halloran might just be their lynchpin. The rook does a lot of everything and knows to leave the 3 point shooting to the other guys. You can’t teach that kind of restraint, just ask the Novaks!

- Complete team effort in this one

GMB

- Was week 1 really that much of a mirage?? The O looked great at the break, what happened in the 2nd? It took the team 14 minutes to get just their 2nd field goal of the half, doing their best Microsoft impression

- Seriously, the core of this team has played together FOREVER

https://www.cacbasketball.com/wallofchampions/b2-4v4-winter-2016-champions/

But sometimes the offense looks like NY Knicks garbage. No one can swing the ball, no one knows whether to shoot or drive and they pass up good looks trying to get great ones. Just let it fly boys!

- Make sure Ric remembers that time I dominated him when we matched up on the court.

Dirty Jim deletes Microsoft

Posted 2/13 - Ya boi screwed up, and for that I apologize. here are some random thoughts post week 4 games, but before i get to the week 4 write-ups!

DIRTY JIM & THE BOYS

- Yawn inducing 30 for Stratford on 6-11 shooting from deep, where was that in week 2??

- I loved the goal line package they ran with Stratford and Chaz on the bench for a 4 minute stretch. Ugly offensive results but super entertaining

- busting out the inbound play twice in the second half seemed a bit excessive

- 26 assists on 33 buckets is pretty damn good!

- Semi (B AR) needs to get through a week without getting injured. That’d be nice.

- because I can see into the future (or because I’m posing this after week 4) Chaz is now 0 for his last 12 3s.

MICROSOFT

- Isaiah banged a triple!! That was solid

- Roni’s gotta look for her shot MORE. She led the way with 13 but passed up a ton of open looks. Why? Be aggressive and lead the way! I wrote down ‘spin cycle’ on the stat sheet, and it made me remember her very nice move in the paint to get open for a lay-up. Don’t sleep on Roni!

- Very excited to see how this team competes in Corporate B next season! They’ll gain some valuable experience in the Winter and hopefully level up in the offseason to get some Ws in that league (sign-ups open 3/1 btw…)

LESS IS MORE

MORE SUBS MORE PROBLEMS? or NO SUBS NO CRY?

In usual turn of events both 8pm & 9pm games were 5v10 w/ the FAB 5s getting the win.

In GM1 we saw Killers 3s taking on Love Handles and handing them a 20 piece and biscuits hold the gravy lol

Josh (K3) 9/11 on 3 leading a team total of 15. 'LET IT FLY'

Little love for LH though Cam was doing all he could to keep them in game solid 15 & 7

We saw a couple comeback attempts from LH that led to open KILLER 3s

(see what i did there?)

ALL JOKES ASIDE......

Geroge n Josh were leading the way and a great supporting cast. and again they were all efficient and no signs of letting up playing with 5!

Player of the Game goes to Josh of Killer 3s

PLAY OF THE GAME was ALLEY OOP FROM JOSH TO GEORGE! almost went home after that

GM2

Heartbreakers v Slam Donkers

A for effort i'll say.... SD didnt air ball or anything, they were getting to the rack, they had open shots, they were moving the ball, many good things but just couldnt hit a basket! Brick or Block was story of the game. ( i had a brick joke but ill save it...i lied

...so many bricks they kept the gym warm!) SD just needs a game plan fine your best player and go with his flow. or we'll chalk it up as a bad night, pressure makes diamonds.

HB was led by Aiden and Tim balanced attack and all 5 showed how its done with rebounds every player had 4 or more. It was 24-14 going into the 2nd half but SD went scoreless for for first 7 minutes of the 2nd half (16 UNANSWERED POINTS) it was over after that

SVB GOT THEMSELVES A BIG 3

Posted 2/13 - Ya boi screwed up, and for that I apologize. here are some random thoughts post week 4 games, but before i get to the week 4 write-ups!

SVB

- Incredible game by the Big 3 to demoralize the Llamas right out of the gate. Marino dominated the first half, Mathias was a wizard in the second and Hill moped up with some garbage time buckets

- Carter moved into the starting line-up for game 2 and I think that was a great call. Kid plays with unbelievable pace on both ends of the floor.

- If drug testing were a thing here, Matt Hill would be my first ‘random’ one. He’s doubled his points, rebounds and steals from his rookie season in the Fall. Sure his assists have taken a hit, but he’s 12-27 from downtown on the season, so can you really play him??

LLAMAS

- Moodie’s lights out shooting (5-6 3s) in the first half kept the Llamas within striking distance before it all fell apart in the second half. This team’s propensity to give up points (and try to get a ton the other way) has led to a #CACreer high in ppg while having one of his most efficient shooting seasons.

- In a league that is shooting a TON of 3s (in my vast cac coverage experience) the Llamas are head and shoulders above everyone else in their prolific bombing. The bottom half of he league in attempts hasn’t taken HALF the number they have. If only they were shooting better than 33%!

- Josh Hohlfelder is coming around after a rough start to the season. I like his game but he can get lose with Dineen et al hoisting.

- Here’s what I don’t get. The team shoots a ton from deep, so how is no one back on defense?? The llamas give up a TON of fast break points and points in general. A stiff breeze has more push back than this team, that gives up FOURTEEN more ppg than Microsoft. I just don’t get it

- I heard “That rim sucks!” after a missed 3 in the middle of the second half with the team down 86-57 and then remembered that SVB had just scored 48 going in that direction in the first half. Was it REALLY the rim??

- How is James dislocated shoulder? Is that the 2nd time in 3 weeks he’s done that??
