Straight Outta Serbia Vol.2 60  WilmerHale 58

Despite Levines Buzzer Beater to Force OT, Serbia Steals the W from WilmerHale

WilmerHale came into this matchup at a 2-2 record, but they came out to compete all game against a top Serbia Squad.  This matchup had so many lead changes, but it was able to end in Straight Outta Serbia’s favor.

James Levine continues to be a dominant force in the league, as he came out of the gate with 19 first half points (finished with 28 points and 8 rebounds).  His team as a whole wished they could have connected on more shots from downtown, but Steve Lazzaro was able to lead a defensive intensity that gave them other opportunities to score the ball.  The end of regulation finished on a side-line out-of-bounds play by WilmerHale, where they saw themselves down by 2 points with 4.7 seconds left.  Levine drove to the point and sank a tear drop to force the game into OT.

WilmerHale was leading 58-57 in OT with 14 seconds left, but a turnover and late foul cost them the game.  Serbia was without guard Marino Preziosa for the game, but their 7-an squad that showed up sealed the deal.  Davis and Alexander finished with double-digit scoring, and we all know Luka had a big game with 19 points.  Serbia on the defensive end was hosting a block party, they finished with a total of 7 blocks.  Serbia gets the win here, but don’t sleep on WilmerHale. They may be 2-3 but James Levine is a walking STAT.

Jedi Jumpshots 72  ORANGE 66

Orange For The Fifth Time Is Not The Color of Victory

Team Orange, you have come so close to victory several times and this week is another one to add to that list.

John Kelly was absent tonight, but Team Orange stepped up without him.  When I first noticed John was not at the game, I was not thinking this game would a 6 point spread that it was.  Micah Evans was without his side-kick, but Delio and Odio were able to contribute a combined 31 points to provide some offensive buckets. Team Orange would have wished for a different result in the end, but for losing by just 6 points without on of their top players isn’t bad.

Jedi Jumpshots had one of the greatest duo performances of the league so far.  Of their 72 total points, McGuire and Seyoum pitched in 57 points.  Seyoum had some crafty finishes at the rim, and a big second half.  McGuire spread the floor with his offensive power, and was able to sink very clutch free-throws at the end of regulation to secure the win.

Tune Squad 84  Shoot.It.Coward. 56

Tune Squad Defeats ShootItCoward 84-56

Tune Squad was coming off a loss last week, but started this week off with a fresh movie release of Space Jam 2.

The Tune Squad had a slow start to this matchup as they made only 9 points in the first 8 minutes.  Shots were not falling for them, but they must have got inspiration from their new movie release, because they went on a 23-5 run and never looked back.  Three’s were falling for them, and they controlled the glass outrebounding the other team 43-23.  Kilpatrick showed why he is a Top-3 scorer in the league, and Ryan Kelley knocked in 22 points himself.

As for ShootItCoward, they could not hang in the second half.  Hof finished with 26 points and 4 steals, but he wasn’t able to get the help he needed tonight.  ShootItCoward falls to 1-4, and they will look to defeat the Long Pigs next week who are also coming off a loss.

Free Timelord 90  Long Pigs 53

Free Timelord Scoring 90 points @ 9:00 to defeat Long Pigs 90-53

Both teams were short-staffed in this game, Free Timelord with 7 players and Long Pigs with 6. Everyone who has witnessed FreeTimelord this season can agree they play very fast-paced (averaging 90pts a game). To think Long Pigs could just show up with 6 players and not get tired seemed out of the equation, but they played very well in the first half and parts of the second half.

Long Pigs only trailed by 14 points at the end of the first half.  The speed and strength of their trio (Rogosa, Pistone, and Stanowicz) was a threat to Free Timelord throughout a good portion of this game.  Stanowicz had a slam dunk in the first half, and The Long Pigs played well for the position they were in.  They may have lost by 37 in the end, but they put up a battle in the first half.

Free Timelord was without a couple players as well, but that still didn’t slow them down.  14 three-pointers made, and great energy on the defensive end.  Next week, they will take on WilmerHale and this may be one of their toughest tests yet.
