Spring 22 Over30Legends Championship is upon us! The top two seeded teams from the regular season, Golden Oldies and Goat Shit will be squaring off. Golden Oldies advanced to the finals after dispatching my team in a controversially officiated semi-final showdown whereas Goat Shit held off Over the Hills to advance. Oldies GM Chas is on cloud 9 after taking home GM of the season in Over 30 and just took home his second B Draft championship, so you have to say he is riding high into this one. Once again, his team will be shorthanded, missing swingman Sean Kielley and 6th man Chris Stull. For Goats regular season MVP Mazz will have the full supporting cast round him which has made this team versatile, dynamic and deadly.

Obviously, the matchup that sticks out most here is the opposing flamethrowers of Mazz and Gold. In the semis, Gold went 8-11 from 3 in the first half alone on his way to dropping 32 on 10-15 from 3. Mazz is more than capable of answering that, but Goat’s best attribute as a team is their ability to spread the ball around and find the right shot as a team. In the semis, Kap, Mazz, Jet and Dunton all had multiple assists. I give Goats a bit of an edge as the deeper team over-all. Oldies attendance here will factor in as well, as Goats are going to have multiple excellent perimeter defenders (Kap/Jet/Dunton) who will be able to slow Gold down. Last Week Kodra had an awesome game for Oldies, 23/7 6-8 from 3, so he will need to step up again in order to secure the chip. Love that the reigning Chasmanian Devil Evan is going head to head with the inaugural Hanky Panky All Star Kap in the finals. Goats also has the big man advantage with Scott being a more dynamic player than Skelley. Skelley will have his hands full keeping Scott off the glass on the defensive end.

As much as things have been shaping up for this to be the season of Chas, I am going to have to give Goats the edge here. They are so deep as a team and will be facing a shorthanded Oldies team. They have multiple defenders to throw at Gold and not to mention the MVP in Mazz and that they are the reigning champs looking to defend their title.

Goat Shit -4 Golden Oldies
