Tuesday Night 5v5 Week 4 | CAC League Discussion | Discussion
April 3, 2015
Onto better matters. I’m away for my birthday, so AAAAAAAAAAAMIR is posting this preview. I will be there on Tuesday night though! Yes, you guys are incredibly lucky to have me. Feel free to heap praise upon me. Next week I’ll do some power rankings (if the floor doesn’t ruin this week). We have some sorting out to do with pretenders (hello mazz) and the contenders. TO THE LINES!
Run N’ Shoot vs Ghost Rider 6pm game:
Ghost Rider is the lone undefeated team in the league and it’s hard not to call them the best team right now. They have three wins against three teams ranked in the top four to start the season. Sheffield, did the impossible and hit on both rookie picks. Maybe, he should try playing the power ball next.
Run N’ Shoot, on the other hand, looks like the worst team in the league. Not for lack of talent, but they don’t know how to play with each other. Lerner, gets passed to like someone’s friend subbing in for the game. They have a 6’5 guy who might not get a post-up all season. They play like a pickup team every week.
This matchup just looks bad for Run N’ Shoot. Their best chance is to hope they get hot from deep. I don’t know how their defense will be able to hold up against a team running on all cylinders.
Ghost Rider -11.5 over Run N’ Shoot
A Quiet Place vs. Kawhi So Serious? 7pm game:
A Quiet Place picked a nice win over the suddenly dysfunctional Let’s Get Tropical last week. This week they get KSS, who had some player that looked familiar last week, but isn’t on their team? I don’t know, it’s 5am and between drunk/hangover, so who cares?
The problem for KSS, this week and every week, will be guard/wing play. They just don’t have enough for either. That’s a problem against a team like this, because who the hell is Pranam going to guard on AQP starters? McGirr is also going to have to venture outside the paint to guard Civale. I don’t like that matchup.
The load is going to be on Newton’s shoulders. He’s going to need to pressure the rock on defense and push it offensively. AQP, has proven themselves to be quite good. They lead the league in points against. That isn’t good for an offense that isn’t hard to predict in KSS. I don’t know how they score.
I wish I could predict a good game here, but I’m not seeing a close affair. AQP and their defense should have KSS on lock. Newton will need a career game here. It still might not be enough.
A Quiet Place -10 over Kawhi So Serious
The game of the week gets the prime time slot. Last week LGT, laid a massive egg in their game against A Quiet Place. There’s also rumors of locker room dysfunction. I’m sure that will be solved against my team this week.
There’s a lot of fun match-ups in this game. Joel vs. Cawley, Kodra vs. Dwyer and the duo of filip/clasby vs. pollock/Weinstein. I’m going to guess this game will come down to how filip/clasby handles pollock/Weinstein. You have to communicate really well off screens and in transition against these guys.
I talked about it in the write/up of last weeks shit show. Something is off with this team. I’m not sure they know how to help everyone else on their team. Their communication sucked last week on defense. Something doesn’t add up and my team isn’t one you want to face when it doesn’t. I’m too tired to anti-jinx myself.
Get rich, die trying -4.5 over let’s get tropical
Del Boca Vista vs. We Fly High 9pm Game:
The sinking ship that is Del Boca Vista, gets the perfect team to take on this week. They get We Fly High, fresh off their first win of the season and first game with their first pick of the draft. Picking up a second win this week will prove harder.
MacDonald will naturally be tasked with guarding Mazz. He should be able to slow down the version I’ve been seeing this season so far. However, they really don’t have anyone for Lagno. The Jet struggles with shooting guard types and there isn’t a second option. Speaking of second options, if Frongi doesn’t get act together this game, it’s going to be a long season.
I’m going to guess DBV will play a zone and force all drives into Zukic, which should be a problem for a team that has to score from inside the paint. I’m not sure how WFH will be able to score enough to win this game. A couple of guys are going to have to find the three point range. Since they don’t have many, I think they fall.
Del Boca Vista -7.5 over We Fly High

Good stuff, thanks for filling-in Amir (and happy birthday Harry).
Let’s Get Tropical had the pieces, so I’m not sure why they’re struggling. Hope to see them pick it up sometime AFTER this week.
As for us, I feel like we really started hitting our stride last week. I should definitely not be taking the most 3pt attempts on this team of shooters, but I wasn’t about to drive into the paint on that slick floor—we’ll blame that.
This game has the potential to come down to the wire, but I could also see us blowing the doors off them if we keep last week’s momentum up. The Pollock/Weinstein combo is just too crafty and too deadly, and I don’t see them being slowed down much.

Should be a fun matchup tonight. Really not looking forward to having to fight for every defensive rebound with McGirr crashing the offensive glass. May have to foul him intentionally once or twice just to see the beauty of his underhanded foul shooting.
Fingers crossed the court is better than last week.
