Alright boys, we’re on to week 3, hope you guys learned a lot about your first two opponents this season, because you’ll be seeing them again in 6 weeks. So far, I think we’ve seen everyone we don’t know. The rookies look pretty good and it’s good to see some of them post on the message board. All the captains are encouraged to tell their teams to come here and tell me why they aren’t trash. They will obviously be proven wrong, but I like a good effort.

Through two weeks everyone is bunched together, with only We Fly High and Ghost Rider, hanging out by themselves, with the latter still having a chance to have to have a perfect season. TO THE WEEK 3 LINES!

Get Rich, Die Trying vs A Quiet Place 6PM Game:

“Game of the night alert”! The top two teams in my original rankings face off to start off the new week. A Quiet Place looked ooookkkk, against an undermanned We Fly High team, missing their two best players. Their top two picks continue to look underwhelming, averaging under double digits combined so far. I expect that to change, because everyone hits their miracles on my team. Plus, these guys will be getting their captain back.

As for my team, we took a bad loss last week. Two weeks in a row our offense has died down the stretch of games. Maybe we need to do a better job with subs? Or maybe we need better off the ball movement. Either way, this will be a good game to check out exactly what the problem might be. We need to do a better job of getting shots up and communicating on defense. I’m not worried though, because I can think of one major adjustment that will always be there, especially playoff time.

The Pollock/Leblanc match-up should be a good one, Weinstein/Alex, I’m looking forward to. I will say this though, no one will be underestimating Koloff, for this game. I see you out there Koloff and we’ll be getting a hand up on you buddy! This is going to end up being a defensive battle in my mind and I think we have the better defense, with more answers on offense. Also, I still hold a grudge on Doherty, for getting hurt playing soccer and costing myself and Fermon a ship. How dare you sir!

Get Rich, Die Trying -4 over A Quiet Place

Del Boca Vista vs. Kawhi So Serious? 7pm Game:

Fresh getting embarrassed by “B-Leaguers” Mazz, leads his team into a game against a Kawhi So Serious team that seems to have misplaced their first round pick. Where is Maloof? Is his friendship with Pranam over? Did he make new friends? Is he afraid Pat McGirr is going to blow all his assists on missed lay-ups? Lot of questions to answer here and I DEMAND ALL OF THEM!

I have some serious questions how KSS, is going to match-up in this one. Obviously, I expect Newton to guard “C-League” Mazz, but then who is going to guard Lagno? Last week, these guys sent Ottomatic and Pranam go guard Lerner, so I don’t a guess there. Maybe, Cantoni gets the assignment. I don’t know, but that leaves Frongi as well to guard. Although, is he really important? Time will tell.

On the other side of the floor, I expect DBV, to put Mirza right in the middle of the paint and tell him not to move on defense. McGirr and Wise will gladly launch their bodies in the paint for lay-up and O-board attempts, but Mirza should be able to snuff them out most of the game. KSS, is going to have make outside shots if they want to win this game and I don’t think they can.

I have DBV controlling this game from on the onset. Even if Maloof does come back from whatever hole he fell into, I just see the shooting of DBV to be too much in this game and DBV is a front running team that is going to blow out the lesser squads and lose to the good ones.

Del Boca Vista -7 over Kawhi So Serious

Run N’ Shoot vs. Let’s Get Tropical 8pm Game:

Run N’ Shoot picked up a huge win last week, but lost Lerner to injury in the process. Not a fair trade, since everyone makes the playoffs. I expect Lerner to be out again this week to get ready for Thursday, I mean to heal properly. If that’s the case, then hooooo boy, this one could get ugly fast.

Let’s Get Tropical, performed exactly how I predicted they would with their top picks. They suffocated the C-Leaguer and won with their defense. The offense did leave a lot to be desired though, especially from CAC’s newest assist hound, Filip, who hasn’t seen a 3 he didn’t like. This was obviously week 1 Cawley as well, because I didn’t see any patented eye rolls on his team’s bad offensive possessions. It will be interesting to see though how this offense progresses, because there appear to be a lot of guys who want to get their shot up.

If Lerner isn’t there or even if he is, this is going to be an ass whooping. Run N’ Shoot’s defense is meh, to be kind. Their offense is also filled with guys who want to shoot now, shoot later, watch the other team fast break score off their miss. Cavano, will guard one of the Dwyer and Cawley combo. The other one should bring out their fork and get ready to eat. Dan, should also be ready to feast, because his man isn’t going to be able to guard him. I don’t have high hopes, Let’s Get Tropical is going to be prime for a big offensive game. I just don’t see where Run N’ Shoot is going to get the stops or any stops in this one.

Let’s Get Tropical -14.5 over Run N’ Shoot

Ghost Rider vs. We Fly High 9pm game:

Ghost Rider, comes in flying high (pun intended) off their huge win for their injured teammate Ghost. A huge win for these guys, who were borderline contenders coming into the season. Their rookie looked a lot better last week, though the jury is still out on him. However, you have to love how this team of old guys is coming together. Good guard play, with lots of fight inside. They have moved themselves into contender status. As for, We Fly High, they’re in need of help. Pass more to AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMIR.

I actually think they match up pretty well in this one. Sydorko, can take Eusden, MacDonald can grab Musse or Luther. Etheridge or Burzyk can hang with the other. The question will be and probably for the rest of the season, will be if they can score enough. No one is allowed a night off on this team, because they need contributions all around. Etheridge, can’t afford 2-point games. He’s going to have to be a beast. They have to pound the boards and create numerous second chances, then get out on the break and force teams to foul. They had a lot of foul complaints last week, but Etheridge and MacDonald weren’t there, those guys are the ones that force contact/fouls.

Ghost Rider looked great last week, BUT always sell high in these leagues and dammit that’s what I’m doing right now (assuming full attendance for We Fly High). I think Etheridge and MacDonald are going to cause havoc on Ghost Rider’s defense. I think Sydorko, is going to lock Eusden down on defense, then the secondary guys are hit a 3 or two on WFH. This is going to be an upset baby!

Vegas Line: Ghost Rider -8.5 over We Fly High (Harry predicts upset!)

In the halfcourt Sydorko will defend him well, but Eusden will have his best game yet because he runs the floor better than any one in the league at his size.  Could throw one down on a break as I can see any one of our guards finding him in transition.  Also a deeper look at Ryan’s stats shows one of the better shooters in the league.  When he gets 40+ attempts a season he’s above 40% from three.  x factor

Gonna be toasty in that gym tonight. We should have Civale back, which is nice. I don’t really feel confident with predicting most of the games, although I do expect DBV to be highly motivated after their loss last week. We Fly High could get out of their hole if they’re at full strength, although I think the spacing is still an issue.

General note, seems like transition play is maybe a little dampened in this format. Smaller court (for 5v5) makes it tougher to get out ahead of people in general, and narrowness tends to push players more towards the top of the key.
