Fall 2007: A 5v5 League Champs: CTown Fire

    Clutch To the Finals Again
    Clutch 58 Telemundo 54

Clutch moved on to the West Coast Finals behind a strong second half performance by Sidekick Jim (18 points) and Rookie of the Year Domingo (16 points).  Throughout the game, Clutch answered every challenge that Telemundo threw at them.  Little used Foster (on this game, I blame his HS coach) came off the bench to nail a couple threes early in the night and set the tone for the rest of the game.  Jermaine dominated the play as well, getting to the bucket and scoring easily.  Telemundo was trading the lead back and forth for most of the night.  Eric Polite and Special K combined for 16 points and 13 boards in the paint, but Telemundo didn't take advantage of their size in the post nearly enough.  Instead Tommy K dropped 16 points with some outstanding shooting from behind the arc.  Unfortunately, in the last four minutes of the game, with the team down by just a couple, The Tommy Gunn was burried on the bench.  Why, when you need some shooting, is your best shooter on the bench.  I was shaking my head at that, and just maybe it would have made a diffence in the final score.  We'll never know, and Clutch survives one of their toughest tests.

    Reil Splitters No Show

Are they that scared of CTown Fire (6-0) that not a single player bothers to show up?? Shockingly, we couldn't even get a run in so that some stats would count.  Fellas, if no one is going to make it, just let us know ahead of time so we don't waste everyone's time.

Tele Puts The Corporation in the Red

Tele bounces back this week and put a decent sized hurtin on the corporation.† IN the first half, the Tommy Gun was firing away like the ball burnt his hands.† I havent seen someone shoot so fast since Young Guns AKA Tommy the Kid.† With the 3's raining down from the Tommy Gun, the C-Note was able to get some space down low to put the hard hat on for the doubledouble.† Best yet, 75% from the charity stripe.† The meditation techniques I shared with the C-Note must be paying off.† Way to find your Chi at the FT line.††Kareem Mimms†FINALLY took some shots this week as he†looked a lot more agressive on the offensive†end and what do you know he ends up in double figures.† SHowing up late, Banks was able to drop some key buckets in the second half, from the lane and from behind the arc.

For the Corp, Pete Mugar had some 3rd eye court vision in the second half, 2xs finding Bryan G† cutting to the hole.††And speaking of the lethal lefty, Bryan G and Farnsworth were the offensive catlysts as they were the only ones to find the double digit land.††And I swear Dan Smith was in Hoosiers.† The Indiana, blue collar looking hayseed†played just like he was in the†finals of the movie because my man was stroking his 3's....wait a minute, they didnt have the 3 pt shot back then.† He must be one of their offspring.† Pape and Lendler each had nice putbacks, but in the end, Tele was too much to handle.
