    The Reconciliation 84 GTL 75

I figured this would be the game of the night going in and it didn’t disappoint. Was it the game of the night? Ehhhh, maybe not. Regardless, this was a good one with mostly good basketball. What more can you ask for?!

The game began with a Chris Dowd shooting clinic. Dowd started off with a quick 4/4 from deep before GTL decided to guard him, but at that point The Rec had built a decent sized lead. After the Dowd clinic though GTL really buckled down on him, holding him to 3 points the rest of the game. Still, his 4/4 start was impressive and got The Rec going offensively.

GTL hung around despite The Rec’s hot start. Jake Page knocked down a couple threes and you could tell he had it tonight. Page ended up going 6/9 from deep in the game as his jumper looked pretty tonight. GTL needed more though if they had hopes of knocking off a tough and balanced The Rec team.

The Rec remained in control of this game pretty much throughout, but I can’t say things were ever really comfortable. GTL played hard and got strong games from Taub and Barry in addition to Page. Taub struggled from the field, but he was still effective in other areas (6 dimes, 11 rebounds). Barry looked good on offense chipping in 16 and quite frankly should have shot the ball more

Tonight ended up being a “turn back the clock” night however. For whom you ask? That would be Andrew Saint Claire. “Saint” went nuts in the paint in this one, converting TEN 2-point buckets. That’s a lot in a rec league folks. Jon Berman drew the assignment of Saint and that was a BBQ chicken buffet to say the least.

Incredibly, Saint didn’t even lead his team in scoring. His 22 paled in comparison to Danny Martin who had a pretty quiet 32. In fact, I don’t even remember him scoring much but if the sheet says 32 then it’s 32! Martin’s 32 helped lead The Rec to the W, 84-75.
