Summer 2021: A 5v5 League Champs: Beantown Cup

Beantown Cup Wins 5v5A Championship 59-58 Over Spida Men
The Spida Men 58 Beantown Cup 59

This summer's #5v5A League season finale between Beantown Cup and The Spida Men did not dissapoint. Sam Taub was big on the inside scoring back to back baskets to set the tone, but the Spida Men fought back to make it 16-14 with 11:01 remaining in the first half after some great cuts/movement without the ball from Jamal Brown which picked apart the defense for easy scores. Timely shooting from Chad McDaniel and Cooper Ainge made for a 34-30 halftime score.
The Spida Men knotted the game at 36 two minutes into the second half as Ryo Gokita controlled the pace of the game and made some crafty drives to the basket that resulted in easy shots for his teammates and for himself. Louise Dale and James long proceeded to take the ball to the basket at will and Beantown Cup found themselves up 46-43 with 9:56 remaining and already in the one-in-one foul advantage. Despite great 2nd half efforts from Cedric White, Nick Mazzeo, and, Eric Fleming, Beantown Cup was able to hit their free throws down the stretch and work the clock on offensive posessions to ultimately bring a one point lead into the final posession. After playing solid perimeter defense as the clock dwindled, The Spida Men missed a tough fade-away which Beantown Cup secured to ultimately win the championship 59-58.
