Winter 2014: A 5v5 League Champs: Middlesex Magic
- HGM, the same team that had like 14 guys off the bench two weeks ago, is searching for a fifth player just before tip. What gives? Jason O\'Keefe from the Middkesex Magic has offered to play, so we\'ve got a game.
- Nice to see Billet draining again. Of course, NCB probably isn\'t excited about this.
- Per usual, Greg McCarthy is the biggest guy on the court, but it\'s even more apparent, tonight. There\'s no one even close to matching his size or strength and it\'s showing on the offensive glass and the scoreboard (23-6).
- Down 29-13 and looking a little bummed, it\'s probably a poor time to mention that NBC is scheduled to play two gamea, tonight.
- And just like that, NBC has found a spark. They aren\'t getting stops but they\'re putting up a bunch of points. Threes from Eric W., Nick K. and Matt K. has this one looking more respectable.
- NBC is doubling Greg, which is a good idea, but they are getting burnt by leaving Billet open on the three-point line.
- We\'re almost to halftime and Tom W. doesn\'t have a three-pointer yet. This is weird. He\'s got eight points, tho.
- KVL bangs a three to cut the lead to tne with just twenty seconds to play. HGM\'s last possesion is a mess, but the ball gets tipped back to Tim O\'Keefe a few steps past halfcourt who heaved...and made...a buzzer-beating three. It\'s been that kind of season for NBC. That one probably hurt.
- KVL finshed that half with more three point makes (one) than assists (less than one). Bananas.
- NBC has a distinct mismatch with whoever is guarding Eric W. He been matched up with some bigger, slower defenders who have given him way too much space on the perimeter and he\'s made them pay.
- Tom with the tough lefty finish cuts the lead to nine. Like every other game this season, NBC isn\'t going away.
- Annnnnd five straight points from HGM has the lead back to 14. Another double off Billet leads to another three (and another assist for Greg).
- Matty K. is true from 17-feet out, cuts the lead to eight...the closet they\'ve been since early, early on. Tim O\'Keefe answers back with a long jumper and a three. NBC just can\'t get over the hump.
- NBC gets the misses they need at the line, but Greg gets the offensive rebound, anyway.
- Jesus Christ, another miss from the line. And another turnover on an inbound pass?! Did HGM takes the points?!
- NBC is unable to capitalize on these errors, loses their tenth in a row. On to the next one...
