Mafia capture A1 title in most exhilirating waySartori takes home MVP
The Haters 74 Junior Mafia 78
Oh my goodness, for those that did not attend this championship game, shame on you, because you missed quite the epic battle. The brick was on the line and both teams could taste it. Early on, it was like watching two countries bomb the crap out of each other as both teams were letting the 3 fly. What more could I ask for as a spectator, both stars lifted their teams to another level. For the Haters, Alex Delpleche (38pts) was the heart and soul of the Hater early lead. On the other side of the court, the game's MVP, Jay Sartori, the born gamer, ended up with a game high 39 points on 7 3's. 6 of which looked like he borrowed Cheese's canoe on the Charles to shoot them from. But seriously, no matter which team won, Al or Jay was going to get the MVP with the spectacular way in which they played. At the half, the Haters had a 1 point edge. In the second half, the supporting cast got in the mix. JM's Ian Tosti put on a shooting clinic (20pts), bombing away himself, just like his team mate. Not to be out done, Mike Kaup (20pts) hit some even bigger 3's to answer Ian and Jay's. Seriously, every time a team made a five point run, the other team would answer with six points. At times, the crowd up on the balcony was going bonkers. With each momentum swing I was getting so excited that the Commish almost had to put me on time out because I was so amped up at the elevated play. Soon, the big men started going at it. All game, Tibbs (16pts) and Gary (13pts) battled with each other, beating one another up. Eventually, JM ended up with a 3 point lead with a minute left to go. Twice, JM went to the line to ice the game for 1 and 1, but failed to convert on the front ends. However, the Haters couldn't counter. Eventually, Ian Tosti's free throw with 1.5 seconds left to go iced the game and got Tibbs his first brick ever at CRFC. Tibbs, your cherry has been officially been popped, welcome to manhood.
