Fall 2008: A1 League Champs: Weapon X

Fellacios Only Good for a Quick Release - Weapon X is Everlasting
    Weapon X 86 Sensational Fellacio 80

Pre Game: Where the hell did all the fan support for the A1 Finals?! Channelling Mixtape: ìMan, I remember when the players in the league cared about each other and how the games went. I remember when we used to be able to fill the Balcony with guys that had been eliminated or didn't even make the playoffs would come out to cheer and heckle the last two teams standing.î  Well now it's just AK and I ( Plus Dorey's girlfriend and Tosti's 'rents of course) and the players will just have to deal with that.

Game Time: RoY's got the bounce in his step for this game! There will be no waiting until the second half for him as he drains his first 3 of the night and is still pointing to the rafters for an assist, EVEN in the finals. (ed. note, that's one of only 2 assists on the night for Tommy Gunn)

Weapons X is ready to GO! Up 12-0 after the first 2:30 of play.

Salazar starts 3-3 from downtown as Fellacio is creeping back into this one, but the Ragin' Bull is keeping the lead safe by pulling off the Rondo finish, jumping, letting his guy lean by him, and finishing off the glass.

O'Cal coming alive with a trey, the key for Weapon X is to keep the ball out of his hands so that Fellacio has to take bad shots.  That and posting his skrawny ass up on defense.  He's about 100 lbs, let Dorey take him on the block!

Adams is dominating on the glass! Who let that beast out of his cage?? He's averaging a rebound a minute, leave him in the contest.

Salazar is singlehandedly making this a game.  5-8 from downtown will get you some points. Now if they could only get some stops.

Salazar is EN FUEGO!! Give him the rock!!

Weapon X stopped moving the ball and stopped making substitutions and wore down towards the end of half.  As such, they're only up 43-36 despite dominating nearly every aspect of the first half.  Salazar is 7-11 from downtown and has 23 points.  Dorey has bee nthe consistant scorer with 20 points in the first.  They need a whole lot more playing time for Adams, as he was dominating the glass and pulling ìthe dreamî shake.

Tosti comes out aggressive in the second and is taking it to the hole.  Good thing since he's 0-6 from downtown. Still, it's only a two point game as Fellacio is only down 2! I did not expect this to be a game with the wayy this one started.  Get the Bull back in the Ring!

S Quinn just swats his 5th AND 6th weak attempt of the game! How have I not mentioned this yet?? JROD better include some on the video!!

That's more like it, the lead is back to 12 as Dorey has restored his order to the game.  Thankfully C.A.C.'s Drunk Driving Advocate is back in the game and ripping down boards.  Josh Fincke is making some nice moves to the basket, and of course, Superboy is just tossing everyone aside.  It looks like they're going to regain a gripp on this game.

With only Salazar able to buy a bucket from downtown for SF, he should be the only one shooting them! But of course that's not going to be the case down the stretch.  Sensational Fellacio is making a frantic final push to make this thing interesting and give all of us on the balcony a heart attack.

Salazar hits his 12th three of the night to make it a 5 point game with 1:10 left!! Why did they wait until now to put up a fight??

Weapon X is going to hit just enough free throws to prevent this thing from becoming interesting.  That's some clutch work at the line from RoY, but did that last miss cost him the MVP award?? Ha! No, Dorey had it wrapped up already!

Post Game: Of course Tommy K wants to take the Brick home. Hell he played balls out D on T'N'Tosti, and can YOU name the last guy that held him without a three-pointer all game? Neither can I, and any of you could have if you had just asked first.  Now you'll have to duke it out with him for a turn at it before next season starts.  The Raging Bull takes home the MVP trophy with his 31 points and 11 boards.  Well deserved, but for a second there I contemplated giving it to a person on the losing team.  Salazar tossed in 44 points on 12-24 shooting from downtown to single-handedly even make this a game.

It's been a great season to be a part of the A1 and have the honor of keeping you guys (mildly) amused with the lines and write-ups.  I can't wait to have everyone back again for the Winter 09 season, it will be a season of shake-ups!!
