Tommy To Postpone Honeymoon for A2 Finals
    CTC 84 Pau Gasol\'s Beard 77

This week PGB was a first half team.  They were confident and shooting the lights out and playing stifling defense.  Brandon and Brian combined for 6 steals early on and then layups off subsequent fast breaks as they set the tempo of the game from the start.  Tom was draining every shot he took despite having Pistol Pete all over him defensively and in the early going, CTC was relying on Pete for offense as well as he seemed to outmatch his defense and got inside for layups.  Tony was putting up some early buckets and dominating the boards PGB was all over ROY and playing their patented fast paced basketball.  CTC went on a 7-2 run to end the half which still put them down 37-44 but was the momentum they needed to make a comeback.  At the 14 minute mark, Tony hit a 3 and CTC closed the gap to 52-55, the closest of the game thus far.  The game started getting pretty physical as even Tony was getting knocked around quite a bit.  Just as I was texting Tibbs, someone is gonna get kicked out of this game, CTC proved they can keep their cool and stayed composed and this was really when the game turned around.  Some people falter under the pressure of the fans but not ROY, he thrived off having his family and fiancÈ in the crowd as he was not going to lose this one.  9 straight points for Tommy and CTC took their first lead of the game 70-68 after trailing by as much as 12 throughout much of the game.  They never trailed again as they held on to a 5 point advantage with 30 seconds and ROY hit his foul shots to win by 7.  That was likely the last weíll see of ROY this season though as the big day is this weekend and the honeymoon will follow.  CTC will face either Genzyme or Vance next week for the A2 crown.

Do NOT give Genzyme the Last Shot

I mean seriously people, will you ever learn?? Have you not been paying attention to Gripp's lines on the message boards?? Genzyme wins games by between 1 and 3 points Every. Single. Time!  Let's say you're Vance Refrigeration, you've played a hell of a game to this point, holding Genzyme to 57 points and Billet to 'just' 25 (about 13 below his average).  You've held Van Tran scoreless and Allyn has hit just 2 longballs on the night, your defense has been executed about as well as possible.

The Reihl Deihl (25 points, 11 boards) has played a great game despite going up against All Day Darcy (19 points, 10 boards) and his Harvard-bred fundamentals.  Let's also say that you have 57 points yourself, you've got the ball, and there are just 30 seconds left on the clock.  If you've been paying attention at all this season, you dribble the clock out until there are 2 seconds left, and throw up a prayer at the buzzer.  At the very worst, you're into OT, with 3 minutes to pull out a win, at the very best, you hit a buzzer beater and knock off the # 1 seed.

Gah, you do not take a shot with 7 seconds left!  I'm looking at you PK (17 points, 4 steals).  Now don't think I'm hating on the Broiler, he had a great second half after being held without a field goal in the first.  He had a mimatch, and tried to take advantage of it.  Unfortunately, he didn't hit the shot and Genzyme got the ball back with 7 ticks left.  With 2 fouls to give, Vance used one, and there were just 4.5 seconds left.  The plan was to use the second as well, but a broken play somehow resulted in Billet coming out of the scrum with a clear path to the lane.  Deihl had no choice but to foul or give him the easy layup.  Of course, Dolla Dolla Billet (27 points, 8-8 fts) nailed them both.  A desperation 3 from Vataha (13 points) was off the mark, and Vance becomes the latest team to get oh so close to knocking off Genzyme.

Rumor has it we're waiting for both Tommy K's honeymoon to be over and Billet's vacation, so the A2 finals are going to kick off the next season!  May 21st @ 5:30 PM - Genzyme vs CTC, maybe Billet will get fat and out of shape on his trip...
