The last year has proven that things can change on a dime. What hasn't changed is that if you're in a league that has a team captains by Frongi and you scan the roster and see Ryan O, Cawley, Koller, Mazz and Zak? they will threaten to put their names up on those championship banners.
To close out the Summer season they ended the Intramural Heroes undefeated run, avenged their only loss of the season and most importantly, converted Kap to a wanton cheerleader

Intramural Heroes had the perfect start to this game. They were out to a 12-0 lead and had Bada Bing back on their heels. Regular season MVP Reggie Colas (18 points, 3 assists) was attacking the bucket and Nick Weber (16 points) was finishing everything he got his hands on under the hoop. Were some entry passes a little sloppy? MAYBE but Nick don't care. If he's getting his hands on the ball under the hoop a shot is going up and in!
It tooks some time for Bada Bing to work their way back into the game. They finally got a couple stops. Zak (12 points, 6 boards, 3 assists) is always a menace in transition. What are those long gangly limbs going to do? Are they going to unnecessary wraparound pass by a defender to a slightly more open teammate? Is he going to stop and pull up for 3 on a 3-1? Is he going to do his best Giannis impersonation and use no dribbles and just 2 steps from inside half court (this is the Watertown Boys & Girls Club court after all) and finish in the lane?? Zak continually made the right read for Bada Bing.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Finals MVP here. Mike Cawley (15 points, 4 assists) was instrumental in getting Bada Bing all the way back into this game. With Reggie on his back hip, Cawley's BB teammates made sure to feed him when he was in the paint. Mike got buckets, got to the line, and kicked the ball out for wide open looks from downtown. When Ryan Ouellette (9 points, 3-4 3s) found himself on the receiving end of those kick outs, he make sure to let it fly. Ryan was 3-3 from downtown in the opening frame and we were tied at 34 at the break.
In the seocnd half, the IH offense stalled. While Cedric White (12 points, 5 boards) was battling foul trouble, everyone else was standing around and jacking 3s. I know it was hot in the B&G last night but when the team shoots 2-9 from deep in the first half, the answer isn't to hoist and launch 1-8 in the second! I know teams don't really want to challenge Tim Swenson in the middle of the paint, but there are CERTAIN defenders (*MAZZ*) who move like their 40 out there. Attack them!! James Levine (5 points, 4 steals, 7 offensive boards) was doing a little bit of everything to keep IH afloat and was in the running for Finals MVP, if the game had gone the other way. Anytime IH needed something to keep the game close, James made a play.
But they didn't make enough of them. Bada Bing was boosted by not one, but TWO clutch shots from 3rd Team All-Star Ben Koller (4 points, 4 boards), a timely blow-by from Mazz (6 points, 3 assists) that probably took 2 years off his life and some savy clock management down the stretch. Oh and clutch free throw shooting ! 12-16 vs 3-10 on the night doesn't QUITE tell the whole story of this game, but really it does.
Congrats to the Summer 21 Champs, Bada Bing!
