Good overcomes Evil TGG advances to Finals
The Bad Guys 58 The Good Guys 62
First off, big thanks to Mike McCauley and Ian Rubiano for sticking around and scoring this game. Even better, one of them kept game notes! Let\'s take a look!
- \"Ugly start.\"
For the Bad Guys, yeah. Although, I guess you could say the same for us. Remember that \"Gameplan\" I alluded to on the message boards? Yeah, that was thrown out the window at the tip-off. Serves me right. How does that old saying go? \"Keep it simple, stupid.\"
- \"Burridge knocking down J\'s. Get him the ball!\"
I agree! The book on Burridge used to be \"let him shoot.\" Well, screw that. He\'s got a consistent jumper, you can\'t just \"give\" him that. And that\'s what made defending The Bad
Guys so difficult (notice, I wrote that in past tense...because they don\'t exist anymore...because we beat them. lol).
Wanna hedge strong on the Pick&Roll with Reaves and Burridge? Well, you\'re leaving Jason open for a jumper.
Wanna stay play a soft hedge on Reaves? He\'s probably the best long-distance two-point shooter in the league.
Wanna ask the other defenders to sag in the middle? You\'re gonna leave either JSmoove or Noah open for a three?
You just have to pick you poison...and hope they miss. Reaves and Burridge didn\'t miss very often, this night.
- \"Barrett takes over. 6-0 run, five point lead.
I love when he does that! 18 points in the first half!!
(...it was at this point where I actually thought, for the first time, we might actually win this game.)
More than JB, it was a pleasant surprise to see Brian Robinson finishing some layups (yah!) and even knocked home a three-pointer!
(...it was at this point where I actually thought, we\'re GONNA WIN THIS GAME!!)
- \"The Bad Guys are 1-10 from deep.\"
My prayers were answered. But while TBG\'s struggled from deep, Reaves and Burridge were still shooting like, 80% from the field!
- \"One minute left. The Bad Guys take their first lead of the game.\"
I think Burridge said something like, \"Now we\'re playing basketball!\"
It was a little deflating to see that lead vanish so quickly. If TGG\'s are good at anything, itsgiving up leads.
- \"Barrett goes to the post.\"
Yeah, let\'s go there! Barrett\'s post-game is deadly. While Reaves, for the most part, did a great job of defending it, we probably went to the post a dozen times with Josh. I guess we built a nice little lead for ourselves.
- \"Ugly offense for TBG\'s.\"
If you can\'t hit the three, things tend to get pretty ugly. We also decided to throw Josh on Reaves, which worked for a stretch in the second half. But we could only keep him down for so long.
- \"Reaves is on fire! 6-0 run! TBG tie the game at 50.\"
- \"TBG\'s lead! 10-0 run!\"
ughhhhh. While Noah wasn\'t able to hit his threes (or free-throws), he made up for it (kinda) with some monster post-moves. He really made us pay for putting Josh on Reaves.
Things got hectic at the end. I asked Noah to help recap the end, but he said his mind clouds with rage when he reminisces...so he\'s useless.
- Under a minute left, Noah (or Burridge...) bodies home a tough layup to give his team a one-point lead with under a minute on the clock.
- We get the ball, Josh\'s shot is off-target. I think the ball bounces to Brian at the top of the key. He barreled towards the basket and floated (probably not the right word) a runner off the glass and returned the lead to us!
- Missed shot for TBG\'s, JB\'s calmly knocks down one of two free-throws, pushing our lead to four. - Burrigde (..or Noah) settles for a two-pointer, lead gets cut back down to two with 15 seconds left. TBG\'s make the smart move by fouling me to shoot the 1&1.
I just need to hit one...but I never (EVER) make the first free-throw. I\'m always short on them.
I was short on this one...but was granted a friendly roll, and pulled the team ahead by three. The second free-throw was no big deal, swish.
Amazing team effort from TGG\'s, I still can\'t believe we\'re playing for the title.
Tough ending for TBG\'s. They\'re one of the better teams we\'ve seen in the first four seasons of the BDraft..but losing in the Semi\'s isn\'t the way they wanted to go out.
