Spring 2009: B1 5v5 League Champs: BUCKETS

The heat and lack of any subs cannot stop Buckets in RD 1
    Buckets 48 Heavy Hitters 42

Pregame: Holy hell it is hot. I am talking being stuck in a car with the windows up sun beating down. Tell your friends etc. to stay home. I thought I could pass out just watching.

Yikes ... Buckets is going attempt to play this game with only 5. To even walk in with only 5 takes balls. Hopefully no one gets hurt. And well they can make it past half time.

I bet Heavy Hitters are wishing Hallsy were somehow around. This is game is gift wrapped for an upset if other guys around Herlihy can step it up!

Not sure if its because the moisture in the gym is already ridiculous from the previous game but this game is off to an awfully disgusting start. 10 minutes in Buckets are up 13-0. Are we playing first one to 30 wins?

Preston brought his windex as he is cleaning up the offensive glass (10 offensive boards on the night). Do Cokely and Jones realize they have no subs? Where are you guys pushing the ball so hard up the court so early? Gotta save whatever you got for the end. Preston is a vet and its displayed as he casually walks up the court. No point to waste energy right?

While the heat is disgusting and no Hallsy in tow I do not understand why Heavy Hitters are just not trying to run these guns off the floor. Herlihy is doing his best to distribute but guys have to hit open shots and its not happening early.

At the half its 30-25. I am starting to get dizzy. This going to be over soon?

The first heat related injury has occured. Herlihy's legs look to be cramping up. This is not a good sign for the Heavy Hitters. But like a true star he quickly enters back into the game and is going to play through this.

11 minutes into the second half its only 34-28. Thats right folks. 11 minutes and we have only scored 7 pts in the half. Buckets are slowing down settling for 3's that just aren't falling. The ball is bouncing around like a wet bar of soap in the shower.

Herlihy begins to start making an offensive presence in the post but it is starting to look like its too late as Cokley and Preston hit back to back 3's to make it a 12 pt lead (42-30) with 6 to play. Late in the game Ervin and Casey started to use there athletic ability to start getting to the rack and hitting shots. But it was too late in this one.

I think both teams are thankful this game is over. Buckets move on 48-42.

Next week looks to be Buckets vs Genzyme. Preston better hope he can get his full team or they will be golfing soon.
