PRE-GAME
Coming into this game I thought The Quidditch Apologists (TQA) were the clear cut favorite. Not only did they have an opportunity to rest prior to the nightly double header but they had their best player in attendance Ryan Sharry. Secretly I was kinda rooting for Amnesty Clause Candidates (ACC), although I picked against them I like rolling with the old dogs and a couple of my championship teammates are on this team so I’m loyal.
FIRST HALF
For the entire half the game was back and forth. Both teams were somewhat feeling each other out but it was just an all out good game that saw ACC up 31-30 at the half.
PLAYER OF THE HALF
Ryan Sharry 10 pts, 0-1 from three, 0-1 from the free throw line, 1 stl, 2 blks, 1 oreb and 5 drebs
SECOND HALF
Things changed drastically for ACC. It was hard to tell if it was good defense or if they were fatigued. The biggest thing that stood out was in the first half they went 5-9 from three and in the second half they went 1-10. I also noticed several of their players cramping up and having to sub out. Even though ACC had 7 guys to 6 for TQA, TQA was able to rest and rehydrate prior to this game. I give ACC credit they hung tough for like the first 7 minutes of the half and then it just got away from them. TQA wins 67-52.
TAKEAWAYS
I definitely would’ve liked to see ACC play this game on another day. Not that the results would’ve been different but I think the overall game would’ve been more competitive. They are obviously a good team but I think it’s time to add some addition youth to their roster. Especially on a night like this they needed 9-10 guys.
TQA proved that they are the deepest team in the league when everyone played and did what I expected them to do but they still have some business to take care of to be considered the true B1 champs. Basically they won the Western Conference (Yeah I said Western because nobody from the Eastern Conference or B1 West is beating this team).
PLAYER OF THE GAME
Chris Dowd, Chris really stepped his game up for the two he played on the night. He led the team in scoring and managed to get some additional stats.
