Winter 2016: B1 5v5 League Champs: Make A Swish Foundation

Swish B1 Champs After Winning Thriller
Amnesty Clause Candidates 68 Make A Swish Foundation 71

What a game for the B1 Title outright. Both teams came out on fire as Mazz started 3-3 from deep (includes a really gross banked 3) and Swish started 7-8 from three. Dave has the ugliest looking shot but he hit 3 of 4 while Madlinger’s picture perfect form netted a few. It as 38 all at the half.

Early in the second half the veterans put the pedal down by getting the ball inside to open up a 49-43 lead. Then the pace picked up and suddenly Swish had put together a 19-3 run capped by a Madlinger and-1 to make it 62-52.

It wouldn’t have been a great game if ACC didn’t respond, and they did by scoring 10 straight to tie it at 62, as Mazz dusted off his old post game and took advantage of a mismatch or two down low.

We were tied at 66 with 90 seconds to play and Swish started to dribble it out as if they were going to wait for last shot, but the passed and moved until Dave was able to hit Madlinger for an open three (his 7th) = bottom.

No timeouts left for ACC so they scrambled for a shot and got a quick 2. Then Scott missed the front end of a 1-and-1 but #30 was straight WATCHIN as the ball went over his head for an OREB and then Madlinger nailed to FTs to make it 71-68.

Kind of fitting coincidence because #30 (submit a new roster Mazz!) also watched as Water Bears got an OREB to potentially win the semifinal at the buzzer, but he lucked out there. He still got a shot for redemption after a looooong pass to the corner, and nearly hit a ridiculous three to send it to OT, but drew front iron.
