Fall 2011: B1 League Champs: Team Bring It

Team Bring It takes B1 Title in instant classic vs Warrior Country Legare wins MVP
Team Bring It 66 Warrior Country 62

First off, this was easily the best game I\'ve covered in my brief time at the CAC. This was a great game from start to finish, and a perfect way to end the season.

Team Bring It won 66-62, in a Title game thriller. Drew Legare, who posted a double-double in the game with 22 points and 11 boards (4 offensive) took home MVP honors for the game.

To start the game, Team Bring It was in a serious offensive funk. A couple minutes into the game, they found themselves down 11-4, without a real gameplan. That\'s when Legare and Jimmy D took over, scoring TBI\'s first 24 points for the game.

The game in general, especially in the first half, was a fight for points. Mazz swallowed the whistle more than once, letting TBI and WC play on, the way a Championship game should be played. Sure, the game was chippy, with multiple iffy no-calls, but what can you do?

Six combined points that really swayed momentum was at the end of the 1st half, with Greer chucking up a prayer from mid court, with WC taking a brief 28-25 lead. However, Bobby C quickly counteracted with a half court shot of his own, tieing the game at the buzzer, giving TBI a world of confidence heading into the 2nd.

What really broke the game apart for several minutes in the beginning of the 2nd half were two key 3\'s by Jim Bayley, putting TBI up 44-36. But WC didn\'t back down, feeding the ball to their MVP Mike Greer, who along with the rest of team, got the scored tied again at 51.

Now, let\'s skip to the controversy. We had some technical difficulties with scoreboard not once, but twice. I\'d like to apologize for the inconvienence the malfunction caused, but the 1st time I dont know what happened. My guess is something came loose on that scoreboard that\'s older than me. The second time I got caught up in the excitement, and accidently kicked the chord while trying to get the clock to start again.

Anyway, WC got down by 2 with a few seconds remaining, and failed to convert a game winning 3 that would\'ve given them the title. Upon fouling with a .2 seconds left, Bobby C calmly went to the line, making it a 4 point game, with no chance for WC. Team Bring It takes the title in a controversial end.

Shoutouts to Mazz for reffing the whole season, MattyBells for taking time to video tape the end, and most of all the players. I found myself actually looking forward to doing stats Wednesday nights, and will miss it. Hopefully both you and I will be back next season, but we will wait and see.

Take it easy guys, and have a good holiday season.
