Fall 2015: B2 4v4 League Champs: WO Productions

WO takes Nubbin down for first legit loss of the season
    WO Productions 67 Nubbin 44

Nubbin, without either of their Mason point guards, struggled moving the ball against the intense WO defense in this game. This had all the potential for a game of the season but WO controlled this game from the opening tip, as Tim OKeefe tossed in 7 early points and had 3 first half blocks as he channeled useless big man Scott Mulholland's prime playing days.

Nubbin was within 6 at half time before Geoff managed to get off some open looks and Spates hit some free throws. Seriously the team was 7-8 from the charity stripe and only hit 8 buckets in the oepning frame. They were the first team to keep WO in check on the offensive end of the floor as Ryan was just 1-5 from 3, and not sure exactly why he was playing with his massive hangover (or case of vaginitis, not sure which, says the guy who also sat out his own game with a hangover).

WO was able to pull away in the second half as Jay tossed in 17 points in the first 9 minutes of the second half to blow this game wide open. WO had a 55-39 lead at that point and enver looked back to stake their claim (OFFICIALLY, FINALLY) as the team to beat as we barrel towards the post season

DB powers BDB past OFF in the Woods

Hey, did you guys get that email about the new waiver system yet? If not, please take 30 seconds to fill it out even if you've filled out the paper waiver in the past. We are moving all our records online and I know most of you have already filled out the paper version of this. It's super easy and will help me out a ton.

Thanks boys, let's get to the writeups.

Broken Down Bombers had a roster issue in this one, Hallsy was already scheduled to be out and I think that the Betts family got confused by the schedule moving around last week. That was a bummer and probably should have resulted in a loss for BDB.

But Dave 'the Boss' Bradshaw of East Mode fame was there to save the day. Right from the opening tip DB had the 3 point J falling, was crashing the O glass and firing up the BDB crew. His early back to back bombs gave BDB a 17-12 lead that they never relinquish, even though the game got close on multiple occasions.

That's because John Williams had his mojo going on the drive and dishes. Mason, Born and Darren did everything they could to try and stay in front of him, but JW is about half their age and has a lot more quicks than those guys (or I!) ever did. Kid found Nick Kressbach on the block over and over and over again. He just abused me down there in the paint.

It wouldn't be a BDB writeup with out at least one agism joke. When i'm the second youngest player on the team that's a bad, bad sign.

I'm not a small guy, i've got #DadStrength and use the belly bump to move most of the young whipersnapers in this league out of the paint, but Nick was having none of that. His little jump hook was on point, his upfakes were plentiful and he just did his job (well) every time he was called on.

In the second half BDB went up 7 or 8 points (thanks again Dave!) before Craig would hit a big bucket or Evn would nail a 3. They wouldn't just roll over and die dammit!

Down the stretch DB hit more than enough shots (31 points! is that a CACreer high??) to get the job down.

We tried to get a pick-up game going, but alas, no dice. It's ok though, it was the 630 game, they let me know ahead of time so Fuller and I had a really short shift.

Thanks boys, let's get to the writeups.

Off Constantly came out all jacked up after last week's last second win against TSMITH. They came out with a ton of fight and Kosta came out firing from downtown. The game was tied at 11 after 7 minutes of action and Karim had just stepped onto the court. I thought we were headed for big, BIG things the rest of the way

I was wrong. Ashton exerted his will on this game, like any defending MVP should. Dude had 18 first half points as Nubbin EXPLODED with a 28-6 run to end the first half.

Larkin was a big part of the run with 7 points and 4 steals. However he missed his first free throw of the season in spectacular, airball fashion. The ft wasn't particularly important to the game, even at the time, I just wanted to make sure to mention it to everyone.

There's no coming back against a motivated Nubbin defense and OC could only hope that every 3 Kosta put up would go in. He shot 4 for 6 on the night, so I think he should have shot a bit more. As usual Josh and Bobby crashed the boards hard, but the 22 point hole at half was quickly 42 just 10 minutes later. The team's first assist didn't come until there were only 12 minutes left in the game. That's 28 minutes of ball movement that needs to be improved upon. Everone can't just watch Karim dribble, make some cuts, get open, and yell at him if he's over there dribbling in the corner!

There's just no stopping Hoff and company when they're on. I think Kyle broke double digits for the first time in his CACreer.  Only LeDoux didn't break the magic 10 point barrier in this one. As #NubbinReloaded asked themselves many times last season, "Spates who!?!?" stay away man!!

In garbage time, Jeff Mason got that all important final couple of rebounds and assists for a Triple Double! For once he didn't immediately look at the statsheet and complain about how he got 'hosed' or that i wasn't paying attention. I even got all 3 of his blocks! Damn man.
