Sangiolo saves Swags season
Swagagewea 71 Radio Shaq 70
Only 4 squads remain as we are one step away to finding out who will win the East Championship and head into the unification game. All top 4 seeds remain, will the top 2 be the last left to go at it in the finals?
If the first game set the bar for drama filled action in the semi-final matchups in the B2 4v4 East, the game between #2 Radio Shaq and #3 Swagagewea did not disappoint or slack off in the drama section. Radio Shaq has been rolling through the opposition since week 3. The first 2 weeks without Melo were tough as they went up against PWC and Swag-2 of the final 4 teams. When Melo arrived on week 3, he clearly became the MVP for his club as they rang of 7 straight regular season wins, including wins over PWC and Swag in the latter half of the season. Swag has been on point since week 1 and were my favorites to win it all after a couple weeks of watching them. They fell from grace with 2 losses late in the season, but they were right were they wanted to be, in a rubber match to decide who will face FREE BANDZ in the East Championship Game. Swag came out hot hitting 4 of their first 5 attempts and took a 10-4 lead. RS came right back at 'em and made it a game to watch. Both squads were trading punches like two MMA fighters with no ground game and it resulted in a 37-36 lead at the break. The 2nd half was just as good as the first as both teams didn't let up on the gas. Swag rode the wave that Brennan created, but the lack of offense from Van Liere (2 points, good D Melo!) allowed RS to stay close. Melo lead all scores while Tenney couldn't hit from the outside. The one thing that RS was doing right was getting to the foul line. It allowed them to have a slight lead before Sangiolo became the hero of the night. The first triple he sank, brought them to within 2 points, and with Shaq up 70-68, Sangiolo was sagged off on and he made RS pay with a triple that gave Swag a 71-70 lead. With not enough time on the clock and not in the bonus, RS conceded defeat and lost 71-70. Swag moves on to the championship game to face #4 FREE BANDZ for the right to represent the East in the Unification Game. Good luck to Swag and good season to Radio Shaq who had a tough start but found a way to become the hottest team in the league.
