Dont Call it Staves Off Young Comeback
    Ernest & Young 43 Don't Call it a Comeback 57

Don\'t let the final score fool you -- this game made Don\'t Call it a Comeback sweat.

I thought the primary reason that Ernst and Young could compete in this one was the shot-making ability of Andrew Coombs and Zack. Well, neither of them showed up, but they were still able to make this one interesting with a little late magic.

They actually had the lead early -- John was going to work against a listless Comeback front line, and had 4 points and 4 boards to pace his team to a 9-5 led. Luckily for Comeback (who were missing Chris Hurley in their own right), Kevin Lehman showed up, and he and Kevin Carpenter provided an offensive spark, with the former Kevin finding the latter for a layup to tie the game.

Comeback tore off on a 14-4 run at this point, which doesn\'t seem like much but when the scores are this low, having any breathing room at all is a huge deal. It was all punctuated with Mark\'s only three of the game, and it looked like Comeback would be able to enter the locker room up double digits.

Not so fast, as they got beat on a backdoor layup by Adam with just 2 seconds to go, and had to settle for an eight point lead.

That, in a nutshell, was the story of the game: Comeback would look great for long stretches but would fail to pull away, and then defensive lapses would make the game too close for comfort.

The first 5 minutes of the second half followed that script to the letter. They rushed out to a 33-16 lead after Paul found a cutting Joe with a gorgeous pass, then gave up 7 straight points to Mike that saw the lead dwindle to 10. For 5 of those points, they doubled him and then had both players leave the ball entirely -- and Mike made them pay.

Carl and Kyle got into the action by knocking down threes (sandwiched around a couple of Comeback buckets), and what looked like it might be a laugher was a single digit game.

Adam followed this up with a beautiful drop step, Mike nailed his second three of the game, and all of a sudden the lead was just 4 with about 5 minutes left.

Paul found Ryan again to make the lead 6, but Rich was able to answer with a banked 3 after having been deliberately left open most of the night. Ryan returned the favor by finding Paul on a sweet dish, but Rich was not to be denied and hit another 3 to make it just a 2 point game.

However, Ernst and Young would get no closer, and Don\'t Call it a Comeback would rattle off the last 12 points of the game to create the final margin. Ryan led them with 16 points and 9 boards, his most effective game of the season.
