Oh Yeah NWO Advances Free Throws The Key
    Cleary Club 47 N.W.O. 48

In a game that saw more fouls than a chicken ranch (and I am not talking about the good kind either), it came down to freebies (35 of them in a 36 minute game to be exact) and very simply ñ NWO hit them, and CC did notÖI could end it there, but I have other things to sayÖ Quinten Walsh didnít make a huge dent in the stat sheet, but bodying up Phil and keeping him off the offensive glass was another key to the gameÖcan somebody tell CO that the womenís league plays on Sunday nights?ÖMike D hit a huge three ball down the stretch to I think either tie it or get his team within 1ÖMeyer continues to be a dominating presence in the paint and alters just about everyoneís gameÖeven Danamalís, but his game was already altered by the fan in attendanceÖwhat a huge team CC has, even without Captain America Ken Cleary who I guess suffered a leg injury at the hands of the Axis PowersÖanyone else think that Walsh has a smoking gun on Belicheck?...CC missed the calming presence of Double Krunch Kris KonosianÖCO nailed three freebies with .2 seconds to play to tie the game and send it to OTÖclutch!!!!!!!!!!....not sure how they were even in position to tie the game, og right, forgot, missed freebies by CCÖNWO gets arch rival Matty O and Genzyme in the B2 North FinalÖshould be a great gameÖand please get the time correct on the websiteÖalso always good to check it game dayÖ.

Crazy Game: G-Unit Wins OT Thriller Over Serenity

Wow, what a fantastic game to open the Tuesday night CAC showcase. Tons of story lines here and I'll try and fit them all in, but these two teams have such a long history I doubt my own ability to do so. Mike Kmiec returned from a 6 month hiatus in North Carolina (no tan though - but he did look healthier) to return to an already stacked team that has two titles under their belt now. The jury is still out if he can play under the BFab regime, which seems much more fascist than the Deep regime, but time will tell. And then we had Good King/EFPG Matty O match-up, which Matty O always seems to get the short end of the stick on for wahtever reason (not smart enough to know myself). But as expected, this game was a good one as both team have great talent (Genzyme) and game plans (Serenity). Mind was over matter early on as Serenity built a nice lead behind the Good King's post game (14 points, 8 rebounds) and Mr. Fantasy Stat's passing (8 assists, 11 boards). G Unit had a pretty well balanced attack as any defense is going to have trouble  what Genzyme weapon to focus on (Muse, Lawson, Matty O, Kmiec, Van, and Schofield when he is in attendance). But as alwasy Kneeland had a plan and behind some huge banked three by Bigshot (20 points, he doesn't have that nickname for nothing) and baseline jumper by Pockets (8 points). But then an unlikely turn of events occurred with SN up 5 with 35 seconds to play. Some unlikely turnovers followed by a huge a huge 3 ball by Matty O (and a sprawling save on the baseline for a Tommy point) and an and one by Lawson to tie the game sent this one ot an extra session. An in the extra session, Van Tran hit a three ball to open it and G-Unit hit enough freebies to keep SN desperate. But another three by Bigshot gave SN a chance on their last posession, but G-Unit's defense cracked down and just like that they escape. Tough loss for Serenity, but they'll be in every game this season despite being outmatched on paper. Things dont get any easier next week as they'll get Big State while G-Unit gets Cleary Club. Two great match-ups, but this season in the north, they'll all be great as the league is stacked.

Big State 48  Cleary Club 79

You want it? Cleary Club's Got It

Yowza, Cleary Club is stacked this season and probably played the best game they have in 2 seasons last night.  Of course they were 7 people up against just 4 on Big State but it was a rout from beginning to end.  Coach Ken made some serious roster additions and is definitely neck in neck with the Good King in the Best CAC Coach of all Time runnings.  Team leading scorer, Geoff ìget out of my houseî Meyer(22 points, 13 rebounds, 5 blocks) was on fire hitting 3s grabbing boards but most notably getting some sick blocks that would make KG feel threatened.  Itís possible heís been around the CAC blocks a few times before but this is the first Iíve seen of him and heís definitely going to make Cleary Club a top contender for the B2 championship.  Big State struggled from the get go, never really looking alive, and trailed 22-32 at the half but were still in range of a comeback.  Unfortunately just 6 minutes in to the 2nd, Cleary Club just went crazy on a 15-5 run to lead 47-27.  The biggest asset of Big Stateís game was that of former ROY Chris Roy.  He could be on his way to league MVP after just being the league ROY last season.  Roy(27 points, 6 steals) couldnít miss and one was pretty much the only offense Big State had going for them.  JRed, who I have seen play some awesome games, just couldnít buy a hoop and scored his very first layup with 7 minutes left in the game.  Thatís a sure sign that they are struggling as this kid scoring layups is usually as easy as finding Britney on the front page of a tabloid.  Big State just never really looked in to it and Cleary Club just continued to capitalize on their lack of energy.  Nearly every player on Cleary Club reached double figures in this game as they truly found their offensive game.  Matt ìstat padderî Dillon had an awesome double double since he couldnít seem to hit his layups on the first try and Phil found his shot as he hit 8 field goals this week.  They will be a tough team for anyone to match up against and have the subs to keep going for a long timeÖ.on the court.  All is not lost for Big State since its only the first game of the season and Iím sure theyíll be back to normal next week against Serenity Now while Cleary Club will fight to keep their unblemished record against Genzyme.

    CAC Basketball: Where Diamantides Happens

We have a lot of rivalries brewing in the North and thatís why this is going to be the best season of B2 ball yet. We have Serenity vs Big State (who got thrashed by Cleary Club last night), Matty O vs Kneeland/Bigshot, Saugus vs Kneeland, The Joeís vs the Wolverine. And now we definitely have another one: Cowbell vs. Saugus. It always takes one of those heavyweight, 15 round bouts to solidify a rivalry, and last night was just that as we had our 2nd overtime thriller in as many games in the North last night. (I repeat, what a league this is!). I was so itching to check myself into this game as it was one of those physical battles that unskilled guys like me love to play in. You had ìThe Generalî Micah Sherman (20 points, 14 rebounds, 4 steals) battling Phi Slamma Jamma EBrown (8 points, 8 rebounds, 8 blocks) and Danamal OíConnell (17 points) on the block all night.  You had the misunderstood ìCOî Chris OíConnell (25 points, 16 free throws ñ I think I am good for the season!) battling point guard extraordinaire Romaine Hunt (16 points). But with all of these stars and after a very intense back and forth game all the way through, you had some unlikely heroes playing huge roles in the outcome of this one. Down 5 with under two minutes to play in regulation, MC launched a furious comeback behind the 1-2 punch of the General (a huge 3 point play) and Romaine (a huge deep three ball) to tie the game in regulation, stunning the men of the Gus. Into OT we went (by the way, I love OT games when we are running behind at 9:45 at night, 45 minutes past my bed time) as CO hit a big three and some freebies to put his team up 5 again in the extra session. But back again came MC and after a Micah missed and one attempt on purpose down two, he got his own rebound. Saugus swarmed on him like dollar draft nights at the Cabaret, but he managed to find a wide open Joey Breton, who nailed an enormous three ball to put his team up one with under 5 seconds to play, Mike D and the Saugus bunch looked stunned as MC looked as if it had this one in the bag. One last desperation play was drawn up during as timeout and they got it to CO, wait no, Danamal, wait no, they designed a play for 5th man and Saugus tennis legend Pete D! Yes, the man who canít crack the starting line up of this squad was there for them in the end, and as time expired, he calmly sank a three ball from the top of the key to give NOW the victory. Bedlam ensued and they were definitely off to the ë99 to celebrate (please note that due to the sub-prime lending crisis, Mike D will no longer be picking up all the tabs). Wow, what a contest as time just simply expired on MC b/c if they had another possession, they probably hit the game winner! It doesnít get much better than this one as it was an all out war ñ and we are only in week 2!!!!! It also doesnít get any easier for either team next week as More Cowbell gets Genzyme in the 5:30 showcase while NWO gets Big State at the Morse. What a league this is!
