Oh Yeah NWO Advances Free Throws The Key
    Cleary Club 47 N.W.O. 48

In a game that saw more fouls than a chicken ranch (and I am not talking about the good kind either), it came down to freebies (35 of them in a 36 minute game to be exact) and very simply ñ NWO hit them, and CC did notÖI could end it there, but I have other things to sayÖ Quinten Walsh didnít make a huge dent in the stat sheet, but bodying up Phil and keeping him off the offensive glass was another key to the gameÖcan somebody tell CO that the womenís league plays on Sunday nights?ÖMike D hit a huge three ball down the stretch to I think either tie it or get his team within 1ÖMeyer continues to be a dominating presence in the paint and alters just about everyoneís gameÖeven Danamalís, but his game was already altered by the fan in attendanceÖwhat a huge team CC has, even without Captain America Ken Cleary who I guess suffered a leg injury at the hands of the Axis PowersÖanyone else think that Walsh has a smoking gun on Belicheck?...CC missed the calming presence of Double Krunch Kris KonosianÖCO nailed three freebies with .2 seconds to play to tie the game and send it to OTÖclutch!!!!!!!!!!....not sure how they were even in position to tie the game, og right, forgot, missed freebies by CCÖNWO gets arch rival Matty O and Genzyme in the B2 North FinalÖshould be a great gameÖand please get the time correct on the websiteÖalso always good to check it game dayÖ.

Kaboub, Free Throws Spark Joe's, G-Unit Drops 1st

Well, I just did an entire write-up and hit submit and my computer crashed. There is no way I am writing it up again b/c I have to go ref now, but here are the highlights in Cliff's Notes format: Kmiec started off hot and has a new baseline fadeaway, Pat Lawson finally has a new nickname (Carrot Hop), Phil Kaboub's huge buckets and free throws by Korpalski/Spaeth were clutch, and Kessel's steal sealed the victory to put the Joe's as a legit contender in everyone's mind. That's pretty much all you need to know for the quiz. A real interesting league just got a whole lot more interesting. See you next week as G-Unit gets Big State and the Joe's get Cleary Club at the Morse.

Victory Coming to a (Cleary) Club Near You

Cleary Club was unstoppable last night as they walked all over the often talented NWO squad.  The game started out quite the defensive battle as there are 5 steals and 4 blocks amongst the 2 teams in the first 2 minutes of the game.  This stifling defense continued for both teams throughout the half as Mike D yelled from the sideline "this is painful to watch".  And it was as the score a quarter in to the game was 13-6.  Perhaps they were all colorblind as there were more turnovers than baskets for both teams and I really wasn't sure which way this was going to go.  Cleary Club started dropping some points finally a lot due to Matt Stat Padder Dillon(10 offensive boards) who despite missing layup after layup did manage to grab his own boards and eventually get himself 8 first half points.  Coach Ken came off the bench and hit a couple of his signature jump shots in the middle of the paint to fuel a Cleary Club run towards the end of the first half.  After a nice give and go from Clement to Geoff, they were going in to the 2nd up 32-16.  JGall, the Ref, was convinced that NWO would pick it up in the 2nd, after seeing them play before, and that we would have a close game on our hands.  Despite the appearance of the player pres in the stands which I'm pretty sure was the reason Mike D immediately nailed a 3 as he wanted to impress Tibbs, it ended up being a blowout for Cleary Club.  While enough can't be said about his defense(6 blocks, 4 steals, 9 boards) Erik didn't score a basket until there were only 12 minutes left in the game and Chris O was the only NWO player to reach double digits mainly off foul shots.  5 players on Cleary Club reached double digits including Kris who hit 4-6 from the 3 point line.  Either the sun was in their eyes or they were distracted by having the best scorekeeper at the CAC residing over their game but NWO was just off.  While falling to 2-3 they have a week off to compose themselves and return to play as we all know they can.  Cleary Club meanwhile is looking like they have a clear shot at the title and will be back in a highly anticipated matchup to take on Average Joe's.

    Big State Rebounds, Cowbell Winless

In what was the closest thing to a must win game for both teams this early in the season, Big State outlasted Cowbell as they had one too many weapons for Cowbell to handle. The Siberian Bull Chris Roy (17 points, 14 rebounds) and the General Micah Sherman (18 points, 15 rebounds) played well, but these big bodies pretty much neutralized each other all night long as they pounded hundreds of pounds of flesh against each other all night long. The key for Big State was the re-emergence of JRed (25 points, 9 rebounds), who has his baseline jumper back and looks to be in mid-season form. Carl Nilsson is a great addition to Cowbell as he had a double-double and fits in very nicely with the front line of Cowbell. But Big State had one too  many weapons and its back to the drawing board for Captain Coox as Cowbell gets Serenity Now next week while Big State gets 1st place (but no longer unbeaten) Genzyme.
