Oh Yeah NWO Advances Free Throws The Key
    Cleary Club 47 N.W.O. 48

In a game that saw more fouls than a chicken ranch (and I am not talking about the good kind either), it came down to freebies (35 of them in a 36 minute game to be exact) and very simply ñ NWO hit them, and CC did notÖI could end it there, but I have other things to sayÖ Quinten Walsh didnít make a huge dent in the stat sheet, but bodying up Phil and keeping him off the offensive glass was another key to the gameÖcan somebody tell CO that the womenís league plays on Sunday nights?ÖMike D hit a huge three ball down the stretch to I think either tie it or get his team within 1ÖMeyer continues to be a dominating presence in the paint and alters just about everyoneís gameÖeven Danamalís, but his game was already altered by the fan in attendanceÖwhat a huge team CC has, even without Captain America Ken Cleary who I guess suffered a leg injury at the hands of the Axis PowersÖanyone else think that Walsh has a smoking gun on Belicheck?...CC missed the calming presence of Double Krunch Kris KonosianÖCO nailed three freebies with .2 seconds to play to tie the game and send it to OTÖclutch!!!!!!!!!!....not sure how they were even in position to tie the game, og right, forgot, missed freebies by CCÖNWO gets arch rival Matty O and Genzyme in the B2 North FinalÖshould be a great gameÖand please get the time correct on the websiteÖalso always good to check it game dayÖ.

Kmiec leads the Zyme over Big State...barely...

When I was asked by the Commish to fill in as the alternate ref for Tuesday Night Raw...I mean CAC...  I had know idea what I was in for.  What a game from start to finish.  Big State taking on the Zyme was all that and then some...

The first half consisted of both teams clicking on all cylinders.  Big State was played very well besides the fact they had no substitutions.  Big Jared G led the way with a game high 28 points and 6 snatches (rebounds).  Chris Roy (no relation to Brandon Roy.. though I could be wrong) added 21 points and 10 snatches as well.  Mark K and Matt S added 13 points combined as Big State and the Zyme pulled just about even at the break.

The second half was absolutely the same.  Both teams going back forth trading basket for basket and foul for foul (the game wasnt out of hand with fouls but we had a few intentionals called...no big deal).  CAC All Star Mike Kmiec led the way with 18 points and 8 snatches.  Abe Ceesay added 8 points as well.  Matty O, Pat Lawson and Robert Muse nailed 12 points each as the Zyme was able to hold on for a 65-62 victory.

Hello? Cleary Club? Are you There?

I was happy to finally catch a glimpse of the revamped Joes as they are always a solid team and as pleasant as can be.  In a shocking turn of events for Cleary Club, they got absolutely walked all over by the Joes last night.  After seeming like the team to beat in the North, I was truly shocked.  Was it that the ball was too flat? Or was the sun in their eyes? Or my smile distracting them from the game!?  Well maybe it was none of those and really just that they were missing a couple key players but regardless the Joes showed who is really atop the North.

Kopter AKA The Floor General commanded his team to a decisive victory over at Morse last night by either scoring on his own or adjusting the game plan to what Cleary Club threw at them.  After a close first quarter, they pulled ahead and really never looked back.  Sparkles came off the bench for 11 first half points as the Joes had a 25-15 advantage going in to the 2nd after he scored 5 unanswered points with 4 minutes remaining.  Cleary Club had their only lead of the game after a few easy Clement layups inside and a Phil putback.  The General made some adjustments at the half and these layups were much harder to come by for the Club in the 2nd.  Just 2 minutes in, Kessell hit a deep 3 and then stole the ball and scored to put them up 34-17 with 17 minutes still to go.  The Club never gave up, well until the 2 minute mark anyways, as Phil hit a few treys of his own.  After 2 back to back, they trailed 23-34, the closest spread of the rest of the game.  For the most part though the buckets werenít falling but thatís not to say they werenít trying.  Dan snagged 7 offensive boards while Ken grabbed 3 as well just werenít able to convert to points.

Sparkles took over and took advantage of his opponents poor defensive decisions with his awesome upfake and though he couldnít hit a foul shot(ahem, 2-6, ahem) he hit a couple 3s and took it hard to the hoop.  Eric and Jake the Snake also reached double digits on solid shooting form the mid range.  Looks like the Joes are back as a top contender this season while Cleary Club will have to figure out how to put more points on the board.  I imagine if Geoff and the other Matt return to the lineup next week they wonít struggle quite as much as they did in this one.  Theyíll have their chance to prove that against More Cowbell next week while the Joes will take on the ever improving Big State.

Attention B2 Ballers:  League Night Out is THIS FRIDAY at Tommy Doyle's in Kendall Square.  Stop on by to have a few drinks and laughs with all of your favorite C.A.C. personalities and yuck it up with guys that you've only complained about on the court!

Final, 3 OT: Romaine Hunts Down Serenity For 1st Win

A triple OT game really throws a wrench into my Tuesday night bedtime routine, but this one was really worth running late for. As Bigshot emailed me after this one, it was certainly a "disaster", but people love watching disasters, so it was entertaining for sure. And I think he meant disaster in the sense that it wasn't the most well played game I have ever seen, but there were so many back and forths, so many critical calls, so many big shots, that is was a mess to keep track of. Hence, this write-up. And in a triple OT game, you can't possibly remember all the big shots in this one, but I will try. After a back and forth physical game as expected, the last few minutes of regulation were chasotic. SN missed some big freebies, Micah took charge late, Romaine's three ball at the end of the 1st OT that sent the game into a 2nd OT. Big Shots huge freebies down one with under 5 seconds to play in the third OT. Romaine obviously again with the biggest shot of them all, a three ball as time expired (love the guts he has as he took a three when only down 1). Enormous shot again by Hunt and a big win by MC to get out of the cellar. It's never too early to start thinking playoffs, and with half the season over and done with and 6 teams making it from the North, this game could play a huge factor into breaking a tie for the last team to make it. Stay tuned. Serenity Now gets NWO next week in the Genzyme 5:30 showcase game (G Unit has the week off). Mike D is sure to be late for this one and do alot of complaining about the arly start time when he gets here. Cowbell gets Cleary Club at the Morse.
