Hill Ginley Help Poison Storm Back Into Finals
Pick Ya Poison 68 Heinsohn's Heroes 51
Scoring was limited at the start of the first B2 West game of the evening. In fact it was it until over two minutes into the contest the first points were put upon the scoreboard and it was Heinsohn’s Heroes who scored first.
This may come as a shocker but Pick Ya Poison was having a difficult time on the CAC court Monday night. The Heroes took full advantage of the Poison’s lack of offense and began the contest with a 12-0 run. It appeared as if we were going to have an upset on our hands, judging by the Heroes start. Dannon Stacer was just on-fire from long distance netting all nine of his points in the first from beyond the arc. But Pick Ya Poison stormed back with an 8-0 run of their own cutting the deficit to just four.
For the majority of the first, the Heroes controlled the game and were the more upbeat team. Holding an 18-16 lead, midway through the half, Ryan Shea found an open Nigel Slack down court for the easy lay-up, sparking a 19-4 Poison run as they went into the break with the 35-22 advantage.
If you were to tell me at the beginning of the contest Pick Ya Poison would have a 13 point lead at the half, I probably would have laughed. Because the way they were playing early on they looked flat.
The second half was all Poison as foul trouble started to catch up with the Heroes – although they did play one tough game against a formidable opponent. Luke O’Sullivan recorded a double-double in the loss with recording 12 points and 12 rebounds while Dom Hamilton led the Heroes with 13 points. Finnigan Hanson added eight points while dishing out three assists. John Cintolo contributed seven points while Adrian O’Sullivan played a solid game recording three rebounds and two assists.
Bobo Hill was the man of the night for Pick Ya Poison in the victory. Although they were down early, he was destined to bring his team back. In addition to his double-double, tallying 14 points and game-high 15 boards, Hill nearly recorded the elusive triple-double, dishing out seven assists. Kyle Ginley led the team with 18 points, three assists and a steal while Shea followed with 16 points of his own. Slack rounded out the four Poison players in double figures with 14.
The win sends Pick Ya Poison to the B2 West League finals, where they will square off with the Sons of the Liberty for the third time in five weeks. The Poison has the upper hand in the match-up, defeating Liberty in week eight and week nine.
Heinsohn’s Heroes you guys played great all season but do not forget to sign-up for next season, Spring 2010. And that goes for everyone who has not sign-up for Spring yet. It will definitely be another terrific B2 season at the CAC.
