The night cap featured another game with a new team starting slow but coming on strong as the game went on. Ball So Card brought a 12 player line-up to the gym (out of the 14 they’ve got listed on the site) and were the most vocal, boisterous squad of the week. I thought Jaylen Brown was throwing it down in transition after every BSC bucket.

Why yes, I think Brown should be the 1-A to Tatum’s 1-B on the Cs, did you ask that? No? Well too bad, see here’s the thing…

Sorry I won’t bore you with my I <3 JB thesis right now, maybe another week

At first, there wasn’t a whole lot for Ball So Card to celebrate because the Soup-A-Stars were looking to live up to their team name. Katie Carlson (10 points, 6 boards) came out and scored the first 5 points of the game, matching her CAC career average in less than 90 seconds. They quickly built the lead to 19-0 and as a team Soup started out 5-7 from downtown. That usually doesn’t happen!

Well, it also happened in the CT vs THONK game, so does it happening two out of three times last night count as ‘often’? I’ll have to keep an eye on that as the season progresses.

But when Andrew Pillsbury (6 points, 6 boards) came off the bench to score the first bucket of the season for Ball So Card, the crowd, sorry bench, went absolutely wild. Junior and I marveled as the Ball So Card bench mob cheered their hardest while down 24-2. When Ethan Fortin (12 points, 11 boards) led a 6-0 run to close the half you would have thought a state title was on the line. I like how captain Carter Thallon (3 points) staggered the line-changes. He paired himself with Gerben Scherpbier (6 points, 9 boards), who will have the opportunity to do some damage on the block. The Ethan/Andrew line was effective in the second half, and it's all about mixing and matching from there!

Ball So Card kept the good vibes going into tte second half, closing to within 30-17, an 11-0 run overall!

Rookie Yancy St Germain (5 points, 9 boards, 4 assists) led a quick scoring burst that reestablished the lead at 20 points for Soup-A-Stars. He found Kevin Levistky (20 points, 9 boards) for back to back buckets.  They'd cruise to the finish line after Katie hit a 3 from about 26 feet out but the BSC crewed cheered until the very end. I love that kind of energy and hope to see it more next week!
