Sunday Morning Legends repeat as champs

    PREGAME

So all season the league has been pretty much quite on the trash talk front until on 12/17 at 10:26 PM it happen.  Vladi from the Sunday Morning Legends (SML) called out Bobby captain of Team Bring It (TBI) and said, “Oh hey Bobby, didn’t even know you were still in the league.  You’ve been kinda quite this season.”  Bobby’s response was, “Oh snap! We’ll see whose quite tomorrow.”  Now we had a game on our hands.  SML was favorite by 6 mainly due to Jim Bayley not playing for TBI.

    GAME SUMMARY

SML started fast in this one up 5-0.  As the half continued the game got closure but it was really some sluggish ugly ball being played.  With 12:12 remaining in the half ,TBI took a timeout down 17-15 and also had a slight advantage now as their 5th guy showed against the 4 players on SML.  The game remained close but SML kept their composure and the lead at the half 40-36.  Mazz was doing what he had done all season 14 pts, 4 rebs, 1 stl and an ast.  Even Kap and Vladi were having a good shooting half combining for 4-5 from three.  For TBI, Cadman went 2-2 from three and Bobby had a great half 9 pts, 4 rebs and 2 asts.

Second half is when SML went on a nice scoring run.  With 11 minutes remaining in the half their lead was 56-45.  At one point it got to 14 points and I thought we were headed for a blowout.  Little did I know, the all around play Maloney and Cancel would get TBI back into the game.  With about 2 minutes left TBI was now only down 60-58.  Unfortunately for TBI one of their key contributors Cancel would suffer an injury and be done for the game.  This may or may not be the reason they lost but Press sealed the game from the free throw line and TBI was unable to score again.

Jon Press won MVP with another dominant finals performance.  He’ll be missed next session.  Lots of questions come to mind about next session but Congratulations to SML on their second straight championship and great season by TBI that came up a little short.
