They Did It.
Sunday Morning Legends 60 Probably Still Hungover 73
This was a highly anticipated match-up. Both Probably Still Hungover (PSH) and Sunday Morning Legends (SML) had been relatively quite all season but both captains decided to take to the message board for some “man” talk. Some of my favorite quotes were:
“Somewhat insulted that you would pick against us.”
“Take away Victor you guys are average at best. Sub .500 team without him.”
“Get your popcorn ready son.”
“Who the f**k are you?”
So after all this, who wouldn’t be looking forward to this game? So I get there a little late and two things come to my surprise. Victor Vaval wasn’t there homeboy went on vacation. Also there was no ref in sight. Fortunately PSH obviously had enough guys to play and Paul Reeves my future teammate agreed to ref. So we had a game.
In the beginning of the game it was clear that Maurice Collins could careless who was there and was ready to play connecting on 3-4 three-pointers to help his team lead 19-17 with 10 minutes left in the half. Not to be outdone was Mike Strange 10 pts, 1 stl, 2 blks, 1 dreb and 2 asts and Chris Kerr 13 pts, 4 stls, 1 blk and 2 drebs. These two guys kept the game close but Kevin Jacobs had some nice stats with 5 pts, 3 blks and 4 drebs and 2 asts and John Burns was having a great all-around game with 10 pts, 3 stls, 1 oreb and 3 drebs. PSH led at the half 34-31.
Second half is when Maurice basically put PSH on his back and in my opinion single handedly dominated SML. With 10 minutes left in the game PSH was up big 56-38 and I thought the game would get worse but I do give credit to SML for having some pride and trying to fight back. With about 7 minutes left in the game they pulled closer down 60-48 off the strong playing of Terry Henderson 13 pts, 2 stls, 2 blks, 2 orebs an 3 drebs but Maurice and PSH were to much going on to win a somewhat easy game 73-60. MVP was clearly Maurice not just because I mentioned his name the most just look at his stat line.
Tough loss for SML, they’ll be back next session to try and avenge this loss. PSH completes the Kentuckyisque season and moves on to other leagues at CAC. Congratulations to them and good luck.
