Its a Repeat Baby Rhiannons MVP Effort Propels the Mambas past Hustle Flow
Hustle & Flow 54 Black Mambas 67
With only 3 players to start the game for the Mambas, Tara Kelly was nice enough to have her Hustle & Flow girls play 3 on 3 to ensure a fair and even game, especially since I wasnt their to officiate. The Mambas came out smokin' at the tap, jumping out to a 16 point lead behind the offensive orchestration by playoff MVP, Rhiannon Lee, who ended up with a sensational triple double in the championship game (impressive!). Kristen Hurov was fantastic in the post, abusing any Hustle & Flow defender who stepped to her while Lauren Checci continued here domination of glass, ripping down what seemed like board after board to start the Mamba fast break and get second chance opportunities down the other end.
However, the Mambas soon hit the wall and allowed Hustle & Flow to get right back in the game. Elaine Gaynor was phenomenal! At times, she carried Hustle & Flow to the point where she almost became the only player, other than the great Jerry West, to win a championship MVP on the losing side of the ball. She played that well. Helping her out was TO, who shot the ball well enough to keep the pressure on while Caryn hit a few shots and nifty drives to allow for some spark besides Elaine.
Although Hustle & Flow's second half full court press got them back into the game, by the five minute mark left to play, the Mambas had regained their composure and built the lead back up to 16. Another great season for both squads and we look forward to seeing you in 2 weeks for the start of the winter season as the Mambas will look to make it a 3-peat.
