Fall 2013: Women’s 4v4 League Champs: 6 Foot Mollys

    6 Foot Mollys capture Championship
    6 Foot Mollys 62 Heartbreakers 52

It has been a great season for the Women\'s 4v4 league. It was my first season covering 4v4 basketball, and I can\'t wait to come back next season and do it all over again! The final game of the season featured the 6 Foot Mollys going up against the Heartbreakers. Absent for HB was Alyssa Naeher, a Boston Breakers goalkeeper who got called up to the US National Women\'s Team. The rest of her Boston Breaker teammates were there and they put up a dog fight against the Mollys. The first half was a tight one that saw HB pick up a 28-21 lead forcing 6FM to call a timeout. From that point (3:35 left in half), the Mollys went on a 12-0 run to close out the half up 33-28.

The Mollys kept their substantial lead for the entire second half as the Heartbreakers tried their best to keep up but had a tough time holding off Griffiths who dropped 19 in the first half. Velez and Griffiths carried the squad offensively. With Griffiths perimeter game and Velez\'s ability to use angles to get to the bucket with ease kept their team in front. Whitehill, Phillips and Schoepfer tried their best to stay alive, but with Naeher out of the lineup, HB had a tough time doing so. As time expired the 6 Foot Mollys went on to win the Women\'s 4v4 Championship with a 62-52 victory. Congratulations to Allison Staab, Fo Mitsis, Katie Palmer, Kelly Potvin, Marrissa Velez, Mary Flaherty, Molly Forbes and Finals MVP Molly Griffiths on a great season!
