***Women’s 4v4 Awards***

The Women’s 4v4 season has finally come to a close and we have the top 4 squads battling it out to be called Queens of W4v4 League! Gen Y, 6 Foot Mollys, Slaughterhouse 5 and the Heartbreakers have qualified for the playoffs, good luck to them in the next two weeks as we crown a champion! But before we get back into the games, I would like to hand out a few awards to some deserving players. In this post I’ll hand out MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and the infamous Rory Duyon Award aka the Role Player of the Year Award! I will also name my All-League Teams! Well, on with the show!

Most Valuable Player

Candidates

Pamela Robinson (Gen Y)
Player Rating: 64.3
Stats: 31 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 5.8 apg, 2.1 spg, 39% 3pt
Notes: Epic 48 point game against Playoff team and #2 seed 6 Foot Mollys, scored 25+ points every game played

Molly Griffiths (6 Foot Mollys)
Player Rating: 67.2
Stats: 25.3 ppg, 10.1 reb, 6.3 apg, 2.3 spg, 1.8 bpg, 41% 3pt
Notes: Tallied 30 pts, 15 rebs, 6 asts, 5 stls against Heartbreakers, 7 20/5/5 games, 3 double-doubles in season

Alyssa Naeher (Heartbreakers)
Player Rating: 64.3
Stats: 22.6 ppg, 11.7 rpg, 5.0 apg, 4.1 spg, 39% 3pt
Notes: 23 pts, 17 rebs, 10 stls, 8 asts vs. Hot Shots, 4 double-doubles in season

Winners

Pam Robinson and Molly Griffiths

Naeher is the odd lady out as Griffiths and Robinson proved that without them in the lineup, the offense comes to a stand still. Robinson 30+ point per game average and Molly’s 7 20/5/5 games out of the 8 she played proved to much for me to pick a definitive winner. Congrats to both ladies!

Rookie of The Year

Before I get into this award, I just want to say that this is the first time that the rookie class in this season’s Women’s 4v4 League was amazing! I usually narrow it down to 4 or 5, but 8 women (not counting MVP candidate Naeher) were good enough to be candidates, so congrats to making this league that much better in your first CAC season!

Candidates

Katie Palmer (6 Foot Mollys)
Stats: 15.6 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 3.0 apg, 2.3 spg

Kia Minor (Gen Y)
Stats: 19.4 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 4.2 apg, 2.2 spg

Katie Schoepfer (Heartbreakers)
Stats: 18.7 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 5.0 spg, 3.5 apg

Marissa Velez (6 Foot Mollys)
Stats: 13.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 3.8 apg, 2.0 spg

Kate Chuprevich (Slaughterhouse 5)
Stats: 14.1 ppg, 10.0 rpg

Toya Chester (Gen X)
Stats: 12.1 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 5.4 apg, 1.0 spg

Cat Whitehill (Heartbreakers)
Stats: 19.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 4.3 apg, 2.2 spg

Adrienne Level (Gen X)
Stats: 11.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.9 spg, 1.7 bpg

Winner

Katie Schoepfer (Heartbreakers)

Schoepfer beat out the deep class of rookies with the likes of Minor, Velez and Palmer with her outstanding play on the defensive side of the ball. She was all over the place on both sides of the ball, and her outstanding play gives her the rookie of the year honors. Congrats Katie!

Defensive Player of the Year

Candidates

Molly Griffiths (6 Foot Mollys)
Defensive Stats: 8.0 drpg, 2.3 spg, 1.8 bpg

Alyssa Naeher (Heartbreakers)
Defensive Stats: 7.6 drpg, 4.1 spg

Katie Schoepfer (Heartbreakers)
Defensive Stats: 7.3 drpg, 5.0 spg

Winner

Katie Schoepfer (Heartbreakers)

Schoepfer picks up her 2nd award of this season with her league leading 5 steals per game. All 3 candidates were anchors on their teams, but even teammate and fellow candidate Naeher can agree that Schoepfer’s feisty-ness on the ball is what gives her team countless fast break opportunities. Congrats again, Katie!!

“Rory Duyon Award”
Role Player of the Year

Candidates

Marissa Velez (6 Foot Mollys)
Stats: 13.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 3.8 apg, 2.0 spg

Toya Chester (Gen X)
Stats: 12.1 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 5.4 apg, 1.0 spg

Carla Pacione (Gen Y)
Stats: 12.1 ppg, 12.6 rpg, 3.3 apg

Winner

Toya Chester (Gen X)

Toya was a key role player in Gen X’s offense. Her budding ties with Level helped her reach her 5 dimes per game total with ease and a huge night where she almost messed around and got a triple-double like Ice Cube in the last game for her team proved that Gen X is finally starting to gel and should be a force to be reckoned with next season. Congrats Toya!
