How do ya do Cacerssssssss?!! or should I say legends? Its a beautiful sunny Monday morning and we continue to dive into this young over 30 legends session, Week 2 action coming at ya!!

6:15 PM Threes And Rebounds Again    vs. Sheff’s Choice   MLK Jr

Both of these teams did not get their session started off on the right foot. 3&RA started like they were in quicksand, but were able to show some life/fight as almost fought all the way back, but HHG hit some late 3’s to put them away. Sheff’s were hanging with GOAT for about 10 min, as Casey, looked unstoppable but the wheels fell off the tracks fast, and they are hoping to look better at full strength. The 6:15 slot is always interesting, we shall see who can get their butts there on time, and ready to rock. Casey should have a hell of a day as I am not seeing a great matchup for him, maybe try B.Mull, his size may be the only way to slow him down. On the other side, Manny should be able to do some serious work, Id like to see if Kindle can bother him a lil bit. This is a tough game to call as I see edges for both teams on the perimeter/ down low. Civale will hit some 3’s and make this a very close one, but Nate/Kulpa will provide just enough 2nd hand scoring to come up with a win. 3&RA 62 Sheffs 58

7:05 PM Talk Shit Get Hit   vs. Golden Oldies   MLK Jr

Game Of The Week! The Golden Oldies were able to stave off a great effort from Cac n Ballers, to come away with my first win in what seemed like 100000000 years. TSGH looked very sharp/together as they played a strong cohesive game, but were outlasted by Over the Hills, which hurts when you lose after playing so well. This game is the battle of the P N Roll, who can execute/ and defend  it the best, will come out on top. Big matchup to gain the edge in this one is Sydorko/Evan  whichever big man can step up and win their matchup could have their team walking away with the W. Obvi I am going to go with my squad, in an all out battle Golden 58 TSGH 56 in a rock fight.

7:55 PM CAC N BALLERS   vs. Over the Hills and Far Away   MLK Jr

Cac N Ballers showed far more fight/ability than what pre-season BS told us. Cawley/Weinstein/Arria is a very tough trio for teams to deal with, and  they will only get better with time together, the trio is good but need to find a way to match up with this BIG league. Over the Hills got their season started off on the right foot as they outlasted a very tough TSGH team showing they can beat anyone and may be a top 2 squad as Brett/Lango set the gym on fire last week. This game has Cawley written all over it, and I look for him to have  MONSTER day will it be enough? As of right now I will take Over the Hills, but Cac n ballers showed last week there are no fluff games in this over 30 session, but the depth/team building of Frongies team will show out. Over the Hills 67 Cac N ballers -62, in a high scoring affair.

8:45 PM He Had Game   vs. GOAT SHIT 2: Amir claps cheeks   MLK Jr

He Had Game were thrilled to nab their first win in quite awhile, and looks like their pick of Cavano has really paid off, as he was dominant on both ends on the floor last week. GOAT’s train just keep on going as they smothered a short-handed Sheffs squad. GOAT is not allowed to get excited or cheer for their team when things are going well, I didn’t make these rules, Mazz  has a big issue with positive support  or celebrating so I expect a stoic sideline and GOAT team, like Barry Sanders after a TD. This shoudl be a great game to end the night off, and expect this thing to be a battle as the edition of Cavano to pair with the the O’ Brothers is no easy task for any team. I gotta take GOAT though, until someone beats them I gotta keep picking them, as they haven’t lost in quite some time. GOAT-71 HHG 67.

Recaps

Game 1: 3&RA had trouble kickstarting again in this one and fell behind early Casey showed up late but his impact was immediate as he was snatching every rebound in sight, and was cooking on the O side of things, and Sheff’s Choice led by double digits at half. Nates team again would claw all the way back but a big Hanks  3 put this thing out of reach, even though Kulpa got hot late. Sheffs Choice -58 3&RA-52.

Game 2: Dont have the stats for this one yet, but man that felt like a playoff game. Very physical, a lot of moving puzzle pieces. My squad led just about wire to wire Gold continues his strong start, and  Evan complimented him very well, as we were able to outlast Harry’s squad. I think we won by 6 or so.

Game 3: Cac N Ballers game out of the gate and jumped all over OTH&FA as they had everything going, Joey Rands was leading his team well behind unconscious shooting from Weinstein were up 38-27. Frongies  team would not give up as Brett “The Hitman”  was hitting 3’s. finding his teammates and firing them up! This was a great game , and ended up into OT where Brett/Ian  finished off an impressive comeback OTH&FA 66 Cac N ballrs 61

Game 4: HHG saw that Mazz’s  hand was all messed up and they jumped all over GOAT as they were up 2-12 early. Jet would spark his team with some hustle plays, but they were down 9 at half. HHG went ice freezing cold, and that opened the door for Mazz/Kap  to get hot, and they never looked back. Goat 2-59 HHG-48

MVP’S

Tenney- 27 pts/18 rbs/7 dimes/ 1blck 4-11 from 3 6-8 Ft’s

Kulpa 24 pts/8 rbs/5-10 from 3

Brett 32 pts/5 ast/7rbs/3-9 from 3 5-6 ft’s

Weinsten 30 pts/5rbs/1stl 1 blck

Mazz-25 pts/5 rbs/3 ast/1 blck 2-5 from 3 ” Did it with one hand!”

Gold- Dont know what it had but he was great once again on both ends.

Chasmanian Devils

Evan- He’s done it again ! His secondary scoring and game-changing blocks are how we were able to win this game. Kid does all the dirty work and loves doing it.

Randal- Didn’t get the win, but I thought he played his balls off, really came out and gave his team a lift. captain shit right there.

Perkins- Everybody knows I get all hot and bothered when it comes to steals, this man had 7, 7 fucking stealssssssssssssssssssssssss, he might be my new favorite player.

Mazz- Usually the stars per say don’t make into this category. Mazz had a lil Chasmanian in him tonight playing with that very badly cut hand, a little wreckless/ a little dumb but man were his balls gigantic tonight, did it for the love of the game. Def flipped a switch at half, and refused to lose, it was impressive to see.

Jet- The former Chasmanian devil of the year trying to get his crown back. He was awesome tonight, slicing through, passing well, and snagging those stealssssss, flyyyyyyyyyyyy Jet flyyyyyyyyyy.

Cundall- He was great in this game shot wasn’t there but was a legit beast on the boards. He made a ton of key plays to make the comeback happen.

Power Rankings

8-3’s&RA:0-2: This team should not be 0-2 but here we are. They have so much talent, and I know they are trying to get back in shape, but it doesn’t seem they are playing together right now. By the time they get flow , they have to clawback, and its been too late. losing to a short-handed Sheffs squad will put Nates team here for now, lets see if they can get back to form.

7-Cac N ballers:0-2: I loved the way they played for most of this game tonight. They just needed just one more bounce or small run, but they just could not get it done in OT. This team will be in every game, the guard play is so tough its bound to unlock Cawley soon. No easy weeks in this over 30 league.

6- TSGH:0-2: Another team I am shocked that is in the bottom half of the rankings, but 0-2 is 0-2. They have had to play against two really good teams, but these are the teams they need to beat to win this thing. Harry/Leblanc are way to smart to not figure this thing out, but they are here for now.

5-HHG:1-1: I saw the very best of them last week/ in the 1st half this week but then I saw that they can go very cold, very fast. They will need to come up with ways to get layups/ get to the free-throw line so they can stop those cold streaks. This being said they prob will shoot way better than they did tonight.

4-Sheffs:1-1: Casey showing hes going to be a problem for this league, he absolutely dominated the glass, and was elevating his teammate’s play with his attack tonight. They won without Civale/Kindle very impressive night for Sheffs squad.

3-Golden Oldies:2-0: We were able to outlast a very good team tonight, but we have yet to play a complete game where all of us have played well. If we can start getting 3’s out of me/Kielley/Stull we will be very hard to beat.

2-OTH&FA:2-0: I really liked the fight I saw from these guys tonight. Things were not easy, but they didn’t complain, they just played hard , and found themselves back in the game. Brett looking like a true number one, making his teammates better around him on their way to the OT win.

1- GOAT- We couldn’t beat Mazz with one hand? These guys are just great players, and turned on the switch, in the 2nd half, the swing in energy was nuts. They are here until they lose.

Undermanned but Plenty of Bombs

Sheffs Choice starting the session with some serious attendance issues as they only had 3 to start and I had to jump into action. Luckily Casey  showed up soon, and we had a ball game. Manny  went high off the glass and the score was 8-5 3’s&RA (15:44). Sheff  would have a beauty dime to Casey, then Hanks  finished inside, and then Casey found Butterbaby it was 11-8 (11 min). Manny looking active early got another tough bucket 11-10. Casey  2-2, then canned a 3 ball 16-10. Manny  to rack as the 2 stars were going toe to toe 16-12. Gordo/Casey cashed 3 balls, and then casey got another one, he was crispy 25-12. B.Mull  would go 1-2, then Kulpa  swished a 3 25-16. Casey responded with a tough drive, followed by a Hanks  middy 29-16. Kulpa was getting hot as he nailed a jumper it was 29-18 at the half.

Manny got things started for his squad with a beast bucket 29-20. Casey bank shot, but answered by a Kulpa 3. Casey was getting buckets at will as he got another one , followed by a deep 3 ball to make things 36-23. Manny picked up the intensity on the O glass, and got 2, but then a defensive lapse led to Hanks easy lay up 38-25, then Butter  canned a 3 41-25 (13:50). Nate  sparked his team with a drive, and then went to the rack again, Kulpa  would have an and 1 suddenly is was 43-32. After a sheff steal casey got fouled and counted the bucket, but B.Mull  kept pace with a middy 43-34 (8 min). Hanks  hit a big time 3  to make things 46-34. The pace got so hectic I could barley keep up with stats/notes when everything calmed down it was Sheffs team still up 51-39.Kulpa  went to the rack, then he splashed 2 giant 3 balls in a row it was just a 51-47 lead with 1:32 to go. Hanks would take advantage to Nates team not knowing what side to defend and that would be the nail in the coffin, they could not get within striking distance. 3&RA 52 Sheffs Choice 58.

Sheffs Choice

sheff-A-) Thought he was excellent int his game, 8 dimes is quite good.

Hanks-B+- Really fought hard on the glass, hit some big shots to put them away

Butter-B- Physical On D, took good shots, def a good Butter game.

Casey-A+- Kid did it all, 18 fricken rebounds, jesus.

3’s and rebounds Again

Nate-C+- Just couldn’t get his shot going, passed well. As a captain I would be very mad my guys didn’t know which end to defend.

Manny-B- Thought his effort level was much better this week, still doesn’t look like himself completely

Kulpa-B+- Takes a lot of shots, but he got cooking and almost pulled his team back in it. would like to see him getting up his teammates more.

Perkins-B- Dude was all over the place. you can see him getting better, he will be a problem soon.

B.Mull-C+- Rebounded well, played some good D, but can/will have more impact.

Randal/Cundall turn back the time in an OT classic

Both O’s came out sharp at Wein/Brett  traded midranges 2-2 (19 min). There goes that man Lagno nailed a 3 5-2, followed by brett to the rack 7-2. Joey Rands  would muscle his way in for 2 7-4. Ian  would hit a 3, but Joey Rands  was on his shit,a nd was scoring/dimeing it was 16-11 in this crazy paced game, I could not keep up (14:30). Brett had that scoop shot working as hit another 18-11. Wein would connect on rare 3 ball, followed up by a Cawley 1-2 from the line 20-15. Cawley  got 2 , but frongi 2-2 from the lin to keep pace 22-17. Joey rands  did some O brd work, getting the bucket/ followed by Wein jimmy, followed by a Cawley steal and finish they were rolling and had the lead 23-22. Clake with some nice hustle getting to the rim, but Cawley answered right back 25-24. Brett had another scoop in the paint but wein had the answer back n forth 27-26 Cacn Ball. Arria got on the scoring board with a middy 29-26 (5:30). Daley  would jump out the gym for an Orb score 31-26. Brett would go 1-2, but Cawley with a dime to Wein 34-27, then a stl finish from Arria. Joey Rands  called a good TO and Arria splashed the buzzer beater it was a shocking 38-27 at the break.

Cawley/Brett would trade buckets to get the 2nd half rolling 40-29(18:51)Cundall  would cut well and find a lay in , then Brett  splashed a 3 to pull them closer 40-34 (16:20). Wein calmed things with his auto middy 42-34, but Lango hit one of his own 42-36. Arria found Wein , Lagno went 2-2 to keep pace. Cawley scored on a smooth step through, but Frongi  hit a big time captain 3 ball 46-41. Wein  would go 2-2, but Brett was starting to pick up the intensity, and dimed up Clarke 48-43. Brett/Arria  would trade strong takes to the rim 50-45 ( 8 min). Cawley running well got a transition bucket , but Brett hit the scoop once again to keep his team in it, but Wein was a killer as he got yet another 2 54-47 (7 min). Clarke  hit would could have been the biggest shot of the game, as he got a 3 to go, then Brett added an obrd finish , followed by Ian  running well, and just like that it was 54-54!. Arria would convert a steal/finsih but Ian was relly playing well, as he got 2 off some obrd madness. Wein would hit a huge 3, but its nice to have a guy like Brett who rose up and splashed a 3 to tie things. CaC N balls would hold, and miss the final shot attempt as we went to oT.

Brett/Ian  would dominate in OTboth teams should walk away knowing they can beat anyone.

OTH&FA

Frongi-B-) I little quiet but made some nice plays down the stretch, his 3 was huge

Cundall-A- Was a man on mission on the boards. Cut well, was so key in this win.

Brett-A-Reallyenergized his team with hustle/passing something you love to see out of you’re #1 pick. clutch 3 was cold blooded.

Clarke-B+- Played his role perfect. His height b ball IQ have him being a  nice steal for Frongi

Lagno-C+- Wasn his day shooting but made some nice hustle plays to help his team comeback.

Cac n ballers

Randal-A-) Did just about all he could, if he hit that last 3 the roof would have exploded with my excitement

Arria-B- Was dimeing , and snatching steals. I feel like he can score 20 + easy like to see him more aggressive early

Daley-B-) Hustled hard, but need more scoring from him.

Wein-A- Was incredible, really making these captains regret not taking him.

Cawley-B-) Need a little more from the #1 pick, rebounding and scoring both low.

Here, let me fix this. “Cawley F+: Got roasted by Armstrong and got outplayed by Ian.”  Unacceptable.

Look Mom One hand !

Mazz walked up to me before the game, and revealed a heavily wrapped hand/thumb, “you are going to play………”. Cavano splashed a 3 right away, but then one handed Mazz found the Jet 3-2 (19:00). Jet would splash a 3, off Mull hustle 5-3. Murphy took his 1st shot of the session and it was cash 5-5 (15 min). Mazz would have a one handed and 1 but missed the ft badley, Matty O would respond with a 3 and went 1-2 9-7 (12:40). Jet was flying as he got another bucket 9-9, followed by a Cavano  trey ball 12-9. Matty/Cavano would go on a run with ft’s floaters, capped off by a Dany bank shot it was a shockingly  21-12 (5:50). Kap  stoped the bleeding with a take to the rack, but Dany kept the pressure on with a hoop 23-14. Jet  was on his captain shit as he hit a floater, but Cavano hit a jimmy 25-16, the assault would continue with Matty/murphy p n roll magic, and then a murphy jumper, finished off by a Matty ft it was 30-18 at the half.

Mazz got cooking right away with cutting bucket, and then Jet  2 off Kap dime 32-22. Cavano up n underto keep pace 34-22. Mazz  was attacking as he got a 3 point play to drop, but cavano Nailed a 3. Mazz had that look in his eye, as he cashed a deep 3, and then finished a twist drive, followed by anther 3, and then a drive he is unstoppable holy fuck it was 37-37. Jet  gives his team the lead with the driving bucket, and then Kap  hits his 1st 3 in 12 attempts. GOAT kept the run going it was 46-38. Matty  would stop this avalanche with a dime to murphy, followed by a matty drive, and Cavano bucket they had life 48-42. Mazz was just on a mission as he got another bucket in the lane, and HHG kept on fizzling into the darkness. GOAT #2-59 HHG 48.

Goat

Jet-A- FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Mazz-A+- Played hurt, really struggled in the 1st half could have mailed it in, but had the killer instinct, it was really cool.

Kap-B-) The shooting was horrific , but Kaps D is why they got back in it.

Mull-B-) Doing all that dirty work, I love it

HHG

Matty-B-) Gota call timeouts, and figure out how to stop these big runs from happening. Hes a baller was on his way to a trip doub, before his team went ice cold.

Cavano-B+- Played efficient basketball, should have switched to Mazz earlier.

Dany-C- Def the worst game I’ve seen him play 0-8 from 3 wont happen again.

Murphy-B-) good game not a great one, wanted a few more boards

Lindsey-B- Fought hard had some nice rebounds.

Golden Oldies outlast in ugly win

Game 2 of Week 2 featured Chas’ Golden Oldies matching up with Harry’s Talk Shit Get Hit (awful name). GO were coming off a Week 1 win led by an impressive offensive explosion by Josh Gold and TSGH were looking for their first win. Both teams had everyone available and I had GO as a slight favorite due to Gold’s monster performance in the previous week.

This game opened with both teams playing intense defense and putting up brick after brick on the offensive end. Finally, Gold got a layup to go and it was 2-0 after 4 minutes of play. Both teams settled into their rhythms and Leblanc and Sydorko would score for TSGH, while Gold led the charge for GO and it was 10-8 after 8 minutes. Kodra nailed a 3, Kielley had a putback O-board, and Gold had a midcourt steal to transition layup and their lead expanded to 19-10. TSGH could not get their shots to fall until late in the first half when reigning MVP Leblanc hit a 3 and a midrange, clawing his squad back into it. Sydorko capped off the first half with a big-time buzzer beating 3 and GO took a manageable 27-19 lead into the half.

The second half opened up with Slick nailing a 3 for TSGH but Gold would answer with a 3 of his own on the other end. Gold would find Chas running the floor for a lay in and then Chas would make a big steal a midcourt and hit the fast break layup to take his team up 38-27. Gans dimes up Harry to provide the spark for his team they would begin to mount somewhat of a comeback. Sydorko got to the line and hit the FTs and Gans would make a 3 and it was only a 3 point game, 40-37. Gold drilled a 3 and Gans answered but the clock was running out and Harry’s team would have to foul. GO would make most of their free throws and bring the lead up to take home a 51-44 win.

Golden Oldies

Kielley – B- not a ton of offensive output, but played defense and rebounded well.

Kodra – B+ Shot way more efficiently than last week, big FTs to close the game

Gold A – 25 pts, 4-7 from 3, OPOY candidate, always on the attack.

Chas – A- defensive intensity, finished at the rim and had his trademark midcourt steals that led to transition buckets.

Skelley C+ missed some open bunnies, needs to play better on offense

Stull C- 0’fer from downtown

Talk Shit Get Hit

Gans – B+ hit some huge 3’s late to get his team back in it, I like his game

EJ – B – 2-3 from deep

Harry C – didn’t do much out there but coached his team up

Leblanc C – not a great game from the reigning MVP (according to Chas, I don’t think there was a vote on this), couldn’t get the shots to fall really

Sydorko A- – led his team in scoring and was a monster defensively

McCauley C – Not a great game, he should be better

Can we talk about Chas trying to steal the inbounds off my timeout? How dare you!

Hahahah Chas, just doesn’t consult his partner on awards.

SCOTT was downright criminal defending the rim last night. His stats are way off CHAS! 9 rebound and 3 blocks?! BRUH dude had at least 15 rebounds and 6 blocks. Vintage SCOTT last night easily an A game for him.

As for me, well, I am in some sorta shooting funk. I deserved a hard C last night, you’re too nice CHAS!

Gutsy game from MAZZ. Really figured it out second half and gave us a huge jolt.

JET balled out. Kid was everywhere.
