Best Team in SDL history?

First game of the new season, and one team had been working out and was in shape, while the other team, not so much.

EJ had his Hands full, not just with coaching mazz but also trying to get a somewhat older team shake off their Covid rust against what could be the best team in SDL history. 3 dunks for the team I will refer to future champs until they lose.

Phil is going to be a problem for every team in this league except his own. You can’t put you biggest player on him because Than Robel will eat down-low, you can’t put a quiche smaller guard on him or he just goes to the basket every play. Including a put back, that almost made me jump out of my seat and reset the scoreboard. Not that it would have mattered.

EJ certainly has his work cut out for him, between teammates not getting touches to get warm, to settling for jump shots when they did. We all know the team can only go as far as Mazz takes them, and he didn’t struggle, but could not keep up with the efficiency on the other side of the court.

Musse hustled when he could, bu without ghost hitting 100% of all his shots, it’s tough to keep up if mazz isn’t either.

The Orlinsky Drafted Basketball Team Wins Their First Game. (Washington Football Team)

Second game of the night we have Team No Name VS Flat Earth Theory. My first assumption was that this must have been a Tibbs auto draft special, Jeff Yeakley a top 10 player, I thought something must be up, watching their ball movement, sans Remy, I soon learned that wasn’t the case.

Remy started and played surprisingly well alongside Raheem, and Will complemented both finishing down-low and locking up the interior on defense. They didn’t have enough firepower to match tonight.

What can I say about Dylan smith other than he should have been taken above mazz in the draft. Dylan even plays defense.
This team will lean on Dylan as other players get their legs under them.

I didn’t really see this game in doubt. I know Yeakley will bring points if/when he decides to show up. Good luck to both teams moving forward. Think of a name for your team!!!!

Get Out of The Fast Lane Grandpa!

The last game of the night and it was a back and forth match until the final 2 minutes of the game, when yet again younger legs prevailed.

Grandpa Juice(GJ) Definitely looked old out there, as Cam started white hot only to go stone cold when his team needed him to hit shots late. GJ had their fair share of highlight plays including a big block from Jahred, but questionable decision making pushing the ball with no numbers, led to a quicker paced game which did not benefit the older, slower team.

Nobody Over 30 played like a younger team, with one of the many Dave’s trying to push in transition on missed and made baskets, eventually overwhelming their opponents, getting easy layup after easy layup. Dwyer is going to be a good piece for them moving forward. Dwyer seems to be their de facto big, but looks to be more of a tweener and we will see how they do against the actual size of the league.

Both teams could take tips from their opponents tonight, as the older team had control over the game in the first half, but once they gave up the lead it seemed like they were in the rear view mirror watching Nobody Over 30 run away with the game.
