Hopping Along to a Championship
Oops Pow Surprise 58 Hopp Along Frog 59
What\'s up fellas, I\'m Tibbs and I was behind the iPad last night. Huge thanks to Nick Mazzeo for sticking around and taking stats while Ian was off galavanting in Europe or some shit. Let\'s get some administrative stuff out of the way real quick
I think that\'s it.
Both teams were coming off colossal upsets in round 2 and I was expecting a close, hard fought game. Ian obviously thought so as well, setting the line at less tahn a point favoring Oops Pow Surprise. With only 4 guys at the tip, though, I thought Hopp Along Frog had a chance to run away with it early, but Oops was hustling to keep this close.
Drew made sure the team stalled coming out of the gates and 3 minutes in, Mike Ryan finally made his grand entrance. With the sides even, it was anyone\'s game. Oops Pow relied on the 3 ball as usual to get out to an early lead. Drew and Kayce were bombing away and the D was pretty on point early.
But playing 5v5 can actually be easier than playing 5v4, and HAF settled into a groove. With Glynn running point, Ulises knocking down Js and the bench playing well, this game was even the entire way.
As we approached halftime, in a tight game, Drew asks for the Jersey Tech! I\'m pretty sure we changed this rule last off-season SPECIFICALLY because Drew has done this in the past! Here\'s the rule:
Jersey Technical Fouls
If a team has a player (or players) without a C.A.C. jersey at the start of the game, a jersey technical will be assessed. The opposition will take two (2) free throws and receive the ball to start the game.
The only time these free throws can be taken is prior to the start of the game. Once the game starts, jersey technicals cannot be awarded and free throws cannot be taken.
The only exception is if a player shows late and isn’t wearing a C.A.C. Jersey, the Technical free throws must be assessed immediately upon the player checking into the game.
If both teams have a player without a C.A.C. jersey, each team will receive one free throw to start the game and a jump ball will take place at half court.
Jersey Technical Fouls do not count towards the personal foul limit (5) or the Technical Foul limit (2) for individual players
Yea that\'s because of him!
Anyway this game was tight even as the second half started. Hopp Along started to get easier and easier looks and they even picked up the D!
Ulises was leading the O, Golden got a couple easy buckets and eventually this was a 10 point game with just 6 minutes to go!
There wasn\'t any panic in Oops, Drew and Kayce just went back to doing what they do best, bombing 3s!
But with time not on their side, they had to rush a bit as well as start fouling. Hopp hit one of two free throws, and Gregg did the same in the final 30 seconds. We had a 4 point game with 15 seconds left and one time out for Oops. They got a 3, but it took a miss, an O Board and nearly the full 15 seconds off the clock, so Hopp Along Frog are your champs!!
