Cashin Cats
Thundercats 71 Silicon Valley Ballers 63
Its Championship Week at the Cambridge YMCA and that means the all-star statkeeper team, er, Thundercats is rolling into the Atlantci Final.
Apparently lucky to be facing a shorthanded Silicon Valley Ballers squad, the Cats still got off to a slow start until Baker started dropping ridiculous dimes like a seeing-eye spinner from the top of the key to Otto in perfect stride for a lay-up.
It was 32-28 Cats at the break and then it was 47-32 in a flash as Popko got hot late in the first half, overcoming the shame of getting booted from the SLU on his way to three big triples. Marvin and Steiner also hit 3s during a 15-0 run for the Cats.
But Matt Matthias led SVB all the way back, leading a 13-3 run with help from Dan Greaney and it looked like a tight finish until Baker got back in the game and "touted" his defense on Matthias, or at least slowed him down a little, then came up with an and-1 offensively to make it 64-57. Marvin Chan also hit on a 4pt play in which he got CLOBBERED and the Cats moved on to the Uni bracket.
