Piekarskis Triple Double Not Enough Mullets Advance To Unification Bout

Commentary by ... Drago 82 The Mullets 88 Piekarskiís Triple Double Not Enough, Mullets Advance To Unification Bout A fantastic game to end the B2 East season as the fans had the match-up they wanted all year long - last yearís MVP Jay Sar and his supporting cast vs. this yearís MVP Josh Piekarski and his supporting cast. And nobody disappointed as both teams and all players brought all they had left to the floor in this one. Drago came out strong and didnít seem intimidated at all by the defending champs, as Josh (46 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists) and Mark LeFave lead the scoring early to give Drago a 4 point lead. The Mullets came roaring back behind Jay Sar (36 points) and backcourt mate and most improved player of the year Ethan Chang (26 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals) to take a 12 point halftime lead. As the Sergeon said after the game, Chang was absolutely everywhere in this one. By the way, there is no truth to the rumor that Chang is currently being investigated by CRFC for performance enhancing substances ñ I am sure his testosterone level increase is ìnaturalî and can be explained by either having a gin and tonic the night before, tricky ratio semantics, or the testing agency having some sort of agenda. Anyway, it looked as if theyíd pull away easily in this one as the Mullets built their lead to 17 points midway through the 2nd half. But just like both Drago and Rocky, Piekarski and his mates had one last gasp in them. Kip Cross hit 3 straight corner jumpers and after a Josh Piekarski 4 point play, the never say die Drago squad found themselves only down 3 with 5 minutes to play. But the Mullets just have too many weapons as they can beat you so many ways, and it was time for All-Star snub Danny OíConnell (18 points) and unsung hero Dave Colanto (12 points) to come up with big buckets in the post to get the Mullets back to a comfortable lead. The Mullets hit their free throws down the stretch and were able to put away the very tough Drago squad in what was a very intense game. Both Jay Sar and Josh were unbelievable in this game on both ends of the floor, but both supporting casts also stepped up their game to make this one of the best games of the season. Congrats to Drago on a great inaugural CRFC season and we really hope to see them back in the Fall. They really made a splash at CRFC this season. The Mullets look to repeat and face off against the best of the west, BALCO in tonightís unification bout at 8PM.
