Almost the upset of the season
Warrior Country 70 Team Bricklayers 58
I can say with 100% certainty that everyone in the upper deck was cheering for the Bricklayers in what would have been the biggest upset of the season. Because I was the only one there but whatever. The ultimate underdogs took on the league villians in the main event for the night and the Bricklayers kept it close all game until finally falling apart at the end due to some foul trouble and Mike Strange deciding that it was time to stop passing/effing around.
Strange led all scorers with 38 points but that doesn\'t encompass the role he played down the stretch. I am not sure he passed the ball in the last four minutes either scoring or drawing a foul, which was critical as M. Fidai (Bricklayer unquestioned MVP) fouled out. Strange seemed disinterested in the game until things got closer than they probably should have been and lifted his team to victory. This probably adversely affected league assist God Mike D\'Alelio who didn\'t get a chance to dish Strange the ball as Strange took care of things himself.
For the Bricklayers this was a heartbreaker because the pieces were there for them. No O\'Briens. Shobin Uralil was feeling it, finishing with 24 points and 4-6 from the three point range. The team has found a go to line up in Uralil, Fidai, Sohail B. and Greg Y. to be competitive against most teams. Hoever, their bench is where they experience signficant drop off in scoring and that caused some pain. With that said this was a great effort, M. Fidai had his usual Shawn Marion-esque performance (now that he is scoring more I am moving away from Kirilenko) and team leader Sohail B. kept the team focused throughout the game. Unfortunately, it wasn\'t meant to be and that is disappointing because they desired it.
