Winter 2011: Co-Ed 5v5 League Champs: Weapons of Mass Seduction

Duyon Doherty lead WOMS to Co-Ed East Title
Weapons of Mass Seduction 76 Genzyme 39

    PreGame:

I had set the early line in favor of Genzyme...but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that stupid of me (and the gameplay that followed showed I was right...about being stupid.)

Filling in my rosters, I noticed Diprimo is missing…I guess he’s “sick”. Big Bruins fan, huh? Genzyme\'s off to a terrible start and the game hasn\'t even started!

    22:00

WOMS comes out playing at a different speed than Genzyme, EJ with the And-1, WOMS up 6-2 early. Rory doing work in the post, hits Lawson up with a nifty little hook. I\'m assuming Lawson wouldn\'t be guarding Rory if Diprimo was here, right?

Great (TEAM) defense being played on JaKeen and Lawson (well, a lot more than they saw last week.) Heather hits Paul cutting to the hoop for the easy layin! Genzyme needs a timeout!

    15:00

Harvey takes the charge on Keith…OUCH!

Rory with the TOUGH jumper over Keith, he’s got nine points in the first ten minutes! Its 18-5 WOMS.

Harvey just blocked JaKeen’s layin all the way to Saugus!!! What?!!!!

Paul with the runner for the AND-1! It’s all going WOMS’ way right now! Its 23-5!?

    10:00

I can’t emphasize enough how great the team-defense has been for WOMS…

Harvey has been a mad-man all first half..Genzyme hasn’t been able to match his intensity.

Back to Back steals and layins from JaKeen finally gives Genzyme some life…and some much-needed points. But WOMS

Sara hits Harvey with the nice pass, her third assist of the half. Yikes, its 33-13 at the half.

    Rory\'s first-half line: 11 points, nine rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.

    Second Half:

Will things improve for Genzyme in the second half? Couldn\'t get worse, right?

Off to a poor start: Lawson grabs a steal and is left going one-on-one with EJ. Lawson looks to avoid contact, nearly jumping over EJ in the process, but misses the layin! Great defense from EJ!!

Genzyme finally strings some buckets together. Lawson hustles for the offensive rebound and knocks down a jumper, Browne hits the baseline jumper and JaKeen drains a three! Momentummmmmm.

But WOMS answers with a three of their own from Sara!! And she\'s not done! She drains another one on the next posession! (Sara was the best player on the court that night)

Icing on the cake? Harvey knocks down the tough fadeaway from 15-ft. Did you know he had that shot? Me either.

Things got silly at the end. Heather, looking to get on the board late in the game, ran past me and advised me to \"put the two points down.\" Apparently, she was going to score the next time she touched the ball.

Well, she\'s a liar. She airballed her next shot from the corner.

Have no fear, she would get her bucket before the buzzer would sound. Sure, it took four attempts from within two feet, but she got the two points! Hoo-Ray!

Well, WOMS obviously rolled in this one. So much for Rory getting killed by Lawson.

The celebration was glourious, but brief. For one, the Bruins were playing Game 7...but also, their work isn\'t done. The winner of the Co-Ed West is waiting for them...whoever that is.

Remember, your name isn\'t on that banner yet! And isn\'t that what this is all about? Kinda?
